The damn "ting, ting, ting" of the warning alarm , when going over 120 kph, is driving me nuts !
Years ago I had a similar device on a V6 Camry - the dashboard, and half the wiring behind, had to come out to disable the thing.
Does anyone know if its the same with VRX's ... or can I hit some part of the electronic gizmos very hard with a hammer ! :headbange

If you're driving a 3rd gen Magna of any kind with a speed alert, then you must have those buttons.
It is to your left of the steering wheel, just below the insturment cluster. Three buttons there, Mode(or Select, can't remember), Up and Down.

Although most of the drivers here drive like demented formula one test drivers, the government imposes various 'wonderful' safety rules and restrictions (eg Suburu WRX's - not allowed , speed bumps on derestricted, unlit roads -- allowed ! )
The VRX I have doesn't have these buttons, so it looks like it's time to get out the hammer ... thanks though

The aussie cars have a user-selectable "Speed Alert" device.
This one goes "BIP BIP!" and flashes a light when it activates.
Your chime "ding ding" one is probably something fitted aftermarket
by your new dealer to suit the local regulations...?

I see no purpose in going over 120kph, unless you want to turn something/someone into roadkill.
Call me a sissy, but going over 110kph is going out of my comfort zone.

do you have any button to scroll through your trip computer? You should have something. There are three buttons. Im 99% sure your car has them. Press the two buttons with a triangle on them at the same time and hold till you hear a beep. Also your car is left hand drive. so my guess is the buttons everyone is telling you is on the LEFT side of the steering wheel should probably be on your right.

Nah .. just kiddin' ... see your point ... however on a regular 450 km drive from Muscat to Dubai its inevitable, for me, that 120 kph will be exceeded ... the speed alarm has to go !

nope ... no trip computer even .. when I get a chance I'll photograph the dash .. even though the car is imported from Mitsubishi Australia the dealer, here, must be getting a different spec car to you guys .. damn shame by the sounds of it.

Yes it would be interesting to see the differences in the exported models. I didn't realise they de-spec the exports. But the Diamantes are meant to be up-spec'd.
so if there is there a way to be able to set the speed limit on the alarm ?

No - if its a device mandated by law for all cars, there's usually no (legal nor easy) way to change or override the thing.
Many countries have that requirement. Some require them on Goods Vehicles or Public Transport like taxis.

Unless you find where the speaker/buzzer is, then just snip the wires going to it :D

That'll usually be the first thing a cop checks, if you ever get pulled over!
In Singapore, their goods vehicles used to be wired to a speed beeper AND a flashing yellow light on the roof. If your van wasn't flashing when doing over 60km/h, clear sign that's been tampered with... :doubt:

I reallly doubt he will ever have a problem doing this where he is from lol

even better way to tamper with it.. rather than just snip the wires.. just add a switch so u can switch the buzzer on and off.

Islamic law allows your hand/s to be chopped off if you're caught stealing... I'd be a little wary before unwittingly breaking the law.

I agree with WaTCHME, just adding a switch is probably the easiest and safest idea (for your hands)
Is there a way to disable the "BIP BIP" but enable the flashing light?

You could just disconnect the piezo buzzer... might be on some PCB in the centre module.
Very likely the same buzzer than BIPs when you touch the Computer buttons... I hate it,
I think its too loud. 8 bips to cycle thru all the displays is highly grating.
When I find it I'll be putting a blob of BluTac over the piezo's hole to muffle it... :D

haha, nope. *whistles innocently* It was set at 100, which I blew past on the way home from picking it up. The first time it went off I just held the up button in for as far as it would go. :)
