So come on guys.. post some of your best efforts. Esspecially you, MagnaV6Sports13 - once you have your cams and whatnot installed.
Best Efforts? In terms of?
My efforts done so far done to my car are pretty mild at this stage
What I've got so far are pretty basic N/A mods done to the my BlackBeast. Building up the car with only N/A mods.
Done So Far,
RPW Extractors - Love the colour change!
MagnaFlow High Flow Cat
MagnaFlow Muffler
K and N Filter DIY HeatShield
RPW Short Shifter Assembly
Apexi RSM GP with G Sensor (Manual, it rocks ya? :D )
Custom FPR designed by my friend (I'll take a picture and I GUARANTEE the FPR will floor all of ya! :D )
I will also be using his cross drilled discs on my car
Best Effort to come?
Stage 2 cams with the gears and the springs being installed and dynoed untuned. Apexi SAFC II to tune the A/F ratio on the dyno.. All to be done in a day.. My friend has arranged everything for me from the hoist to the dyno to tuning it. But only problem is finding a free day for me to go done and having it done and wating for my SAFC to be sent from overseas...... Bugger now that I have to go to some sea side near Philip Island to do my project every 2 weeks.
Total cost for renting the dyno for a few hours plus installation plus tuning? TOO MUCH... :(

ok - i tried a 1/4 mile on teh cruise - and got a 25 second at 65'km/ph!! haha that was at th elights up the reid when all the traffic was about!!
last night i tried a 0-100m time and i took out 100m's at 6.52 seconds at 90km/h with a slow arse launch - wasn't trying hard - just toying with it - but that means I should have a sub 7 second 0-100km/h time which is cool
Will try on the freeway sometime this week - I am allowed to go to 100km/h!!
Oh and yes - i luve it!!

So, is it worth it? Does the display glow a nice blue glow? Once you located where you had to attach it, was it easy to do? Got a tech write up yet? Oh, we're also after a 0-400.
If it's worth it, easy to do and glows blue, then there's room in my car and budget. Just have to figure out how to incorporate it.
Wonder how it goes compared to the coreveit? You still going to have a go with one of those, Manual?

OK MagnaV6Sports!!
I wanted to do the 0-100m because I was in a 70 zone and didn't want to speed - needless to say it was at 90km/h before i go to 100m but oh well!!
As for Redav - Coreveit??
Umm - know that I have done it - I could probably wire one in in about 30-40 minutes!!
It has an awesome blue glow that doesnt match my green glowing interior - but oh well - sh!t happens - it is all good!
From most stores you can pick onr up for about 450 bucks

Manual,
Did you put in all the appropriate measurements for wheen and tyre size, or are you still running stockies?
Without the G-Sensor it takes the speed from the gearbox, same as the speedo which would be out if you had aftermarket wheels, yeah?

How much of the dash do you really need it remove?
Yeah, I probably mispelt it . It's the device attached to a car for timing runs and stuff. We talked about it in another thread recently.

Manual and me are living examples of the "IT CAN BE DONE" attitude :p
For my performance times, I did it on the freeway hahahahahah it's the best... but do it at night :P...

The Times are.... SECRET... which I will reveal when Stage 2 of my build up is completed...
*EDIT - I forgot to add, the performance times will be more accurate with the G sensor, running it without the G sensor will yield a less accurate result... *

Heh heh... fair enough. I guess with the RSM if you start spinning wheels, does that through the results? Does it think it's travelling faster?
Manual
21-07-2003, 09:38 PM
Yes it don't take into accoutn wheelspin
I tried tonight - but the roads are wet on teh freeway and it was just wheelspin 1st and 2nd - twas nasty.
And yes i put in all teh correcting calculation - wheel sizer, and weight etc
On a dry night I will get some times

I thought u wanted it on the windscreen like my original plan? Wires too short ah? heeheehee
Seems like you have decided to put it where I did for mine... except that your's on the left and mine's on the right :D ... the SAFC II is going to be placed next to it, at least that way, my G sensor will be covered by the SAFC... ... and I think that one will lead me to believe that my car will probably be half as torn out as you did on your RSM :D :D

I actually made a mounting bracket so mine is angled towards teh driver more.
Actually it was roger who wanted to put it on the windscreen - and teh wires can be extended - I could have put it on the wind screen but I couldn't be bothered - i like it where it is cos my fingers can find it easily enough.
Hmm - I never noticed you G Sensor there - not bad!! I still gotta figure out where to put mine - and my wires run into teh slot and out a hole in teh back of it!!
Anyways - I still got a few more thins to do yet!!

is there a external unit using a G-sensor to give 1/4 times will out wiring it up
Manual
22-07-2003, 12:58 PM
OK - Yes - the RSM does work in the Magna - that I can confirm and so can MagnaV6Sports!!
And yes there is an external thing that uses a g-sensor to do the same thing - you can use what is called a G-Tech - but they are a little more dear - and don't look half as cool!!

Like Manual said.. there are other units which does the same thing too
GTech Pro - Around 300 bucks, but it's an old ugly unit
GTech Pro Comp - My first choice at that time choice, but in excess of 600 bucks, very accurate and simple to install with 3 accelerometers (G sensor)
Blitz Power Meter ID - Bought it, but realised it's not good, 450 bucks, small compact unit, not as accurate as RSM
Apexi RSM GP -400- 500 bucks including the G sensor, highly accurate with G sensor, Best looking screen, not easy to install
With the RSM G sensor, it's just a plug in and go unit, no dramas involved in installing it. But caution has to be taken when calibrating the G sensor and it needs to be calibrated now and then....
My next Apexi Unit will be the SAFC II, I'll let you guys know how it goes...

I could probably put it into a magna in about an hour now that I have done it once and if i tell youh which wires it could probably be done in 2 hours max
