I own a KR Verada Xi

I had a bad experience with a speed bump today, it was put in today just infront of subway and i didn't see it. I hit it about 20-25km/h and i've broken something in the front suspention  .

Onces the cars speed is around 10km/h the front starts bouncing (not of the ground, but up and down), its quite bazzar and i hope this isn't expensive to fix due to the ECS etc...

20-25 k's isnt all that fast a speed to damaga alot, i wouldve though...

Ummm MAYBE you just bent one of the rims? try taking the wheel off and swapping it with the spare.. see if that helps? Might be as small as that if your lucky...

otherwise.. bouncing you say? might be the shocker buggered? i doubt it tho..

Maybe the spring has been knocked out of place?

there isnt much you could've damage.. an impact like that is what the car is designed to be able to handle. so it'll be something small for sure. so its not gonna cost you big bucks.

I got a quote for $1200  for this

The techy said that the compressor is out (which is probably true) and that all the airbags in the suspention have had it. This may be true too, but is it necessary to get them replaced ? it had been driving fine for ages after i pulled the fuse out for the compressor because it was making bad sounds.

Would probably be cheaper to find some struts from the wreckers and get new springs and shocks ? preferably sports ones ?

sh*t, i dont know anything about the veradas compressors and airbags and all that..

try taking it to another mechanic. tell him that you only want it to be fixed up so its not a danger, and not making those bad noises. and only to fix whats really needed.

That or like u said, just getting another set of struts is another idea. for 1200 u can get a whole new performance suspension package!

Don't trying to fix the ecs suspension, its a waste of time and money. Just buy new struts, shocks and springs for a non ecs magna and put those in, will be cheaper and feel and handle alot better (if you get decent shocks and springs).

The GSR galants had that same ecs crap and i don't think you will find one with it still workig nowdays. Most people just rip it out and put new struts up front and magna first or second gen struts in the back.

20km/h is nothing, i go over the ones at tafe at about 30 and they're the small high ones (pain in the arse...literally!). I love the big flat ones though, dont even bother slowing down they dont do anything at all.

This is not really true, the ECS system although similar was somewhat better than the Galant system.

You can not just change the spring and shock as the tops are also different, as are the platform heights etc.

You are in vic, go to Jully rogers and get the complete strut, then you change the tops over to new springs and shocks, unles you are lucky to find a fairly new set as I have a couple times. It still works out cheaper than buying new tops from mitsu.

Pedders have a replacement shock that will allso the use of the ECS tops but that is if you really want to use pedders.....hmmm i don't think so......

I am one of the only ones here that has had any real experience with the ECS systems on the Verada's.

I have a fairly detailed tech sheet in www.madmagna.com if you want to have a look there.

e-mail me if you have any other questions, I can give you any information you need.

I hve removed mine, including the wiring, ecu, sensors, solonoids, air tanks etc etc.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i havn't had the net for the last couple of weeks so i ended up getting a new aftermarket compressor and a solenoid made for it. It cost $700 all up, probably not the best option but at least its all fixed now :)
