Not huge...but annoying nonetheless.

Wound down the window (Power windows, 99Altera), got to destination, parked it, and tried to wind it up. It got half way, before making lots of clunking noises...sounded like a coupla bits and pieces knocked around...and then wouldnt wind up. I managed to pull it up...then drove home again...where it decided to just slide. I tried pressing the button again...but pulling the button up how one would usually wind the window up...made the window fall...and still doesnt come up again.


anyone else had this prob? any ideas, or am i lookin at straigh to the dealer. Obviously i cant take it anywhere as it will be open for all to see.

Sounds like a broken window regulator, remove the door trim and operate the window and you will see what i'm talking about

I had the same problem about 2 months after I bought the car.. You can take the door trim off and put the window up.. if it slides its possible to secure it with something within the door.. i took it to the dealers service center and they replaced the regulator in 10 mins..

i think the part is about $100 or something... maybe less.. not sure cos mine was under warranty..

i havnt got a resolution, but ive got a 2nd gen ts with the worst problem.. drivers window winds down easily, but winding the window back up (no power windows) is a b!tch, its missing a screw or something and while winding up the window it will slowly push the window to 1 side of the door frame, so i hav to hold the top of my window while winding it back up... bro sed its gonna cost quite a few bucks which he didnt hav, problem was since we got the car which was maybe 4 odd years ago

happened to me so i took it to mitsu, and they just replaced the regulators.
Ended up costing me like 300 dollars just to replace the stupid thing.
They actually included taking door off and finding broken regulator within labour costs.

I should of driven the car there without the inside panel and saved myself $50
I hate mitsu dealerships....

Yes I had this exact problem...TWICE!!!!

First time was still under warrenty, but the second cost $400 to get fixed by Mitsui. Broke in the down position on a work day, so I had little choice other than to cut my losses.

I know a guy who works at a mitsubishi dealer ship and he says faulty window regulators are a common problem so don't get to annoyed as it is not unusual, i also have heaps of reg problems on audi A3's at work, they are not to hard to replace should anybody be willing to try themselves.

$154 replaced the regulator...it colapsed

To add insult to injury, I also had to fork out more again to have new DynaMatt Sound Deadening put in the doors again since I'd sealed them up for more bass :D

I had the same problem in my TF, and it was simply one of the wiring harnesses had come loose for the electric mirrors. Sometimes, the harness moves into the path of the window, and pushes it to one side. Simply a matter of taking the door trim off and electrical taping the harness to the door itself.
