Hi guys had the car in for a week getting worked on. Had the TPS fixed with new one from mitsu. Then car ran a little better. But still has bit of misfire at 4000 + rpm????? They changed the new leads for the old ones and said that the car was running better. So i think i will have to get the car into mitsu and see what they can find cause it has me stumped and with work i have bugger all time to work on it :rant: If anyone has anymore input that would be great.....oh yeah and the revs are still surging and you loose throttle once you give it a boot along the road :confused:

I'm having a similar misfiring problem myself, it's going on a dyno on wednesday to suss it out. I'll let you know what I find out

i kow that on 2nd gen V6's the disy cap (pulse type) can become faulty and give missfires in certain rev ranges,

yeah i thought that at 165K that the girl has done more than enoughK's so i changed the disi rotor button leads plugs and even with the new TPS it is missfiring at four grand onwards. And if you put your foot right down once it misses then it gets a lot rougher then you loose throttle control until the revs drop down a bit the boom back on again. Also from a standing start the throttle can surge straight away so extra revs are required to get it underway. A mechanic at mitsu said to try disconnecting the MAF sensor so i did and it was running like a dog misfiring almost straight away ............hhhhmmmmmmmmmm what a bastard :rant:
So yes Paul that would be great to see what you can find out on yours hopefully might push me in the right direction ( fingers crossed) cause i hate missin out on all of these cruises :badgrin:

This may spund stupid but try changing the plugs, one may have a hiar line crack causing the miss..

problems like this are anoying without a AF meter to see what its doing during the missfire. it could be ign or fueling problems, neither are easy to fix. :confused:

check the coils resistance, someone with a working car check theirs aswell to compare

have a look at the plugs and perhaps post a image so we can check what is happening

ide also suggest having a quick look inside your distributor to check for strang things, then posting pics.

Tried the air filter? (i know it sounds stupid but the little things are usually overlooked and are commonly found to be at fault)
Try cleaning the throttle body & pcv system. If you have replaced the main external ignition components; it makes it sound almost fuel related. Fuel filter, Injectors, etc...

i just had an idea.. kb and madmik

make a few new earths for yuor motor AND your ECU units. goto auto bahn and get some earth terminals and to jaycar for some nice thick wire and spend 2 hours making 3 wires for the motor and one for the ECU

engine -> chassis
chassis -> battery
battery -> engine

then the ECU to the chassis with obviously smaller wire :P

Yep already have an engine earth kit from the car audio dude on here Fhrx but he put in a 4 guage and 8 guage from battery to battery earth and battery to plenum and the car ran little smoother and stereo sounded better too. But the funny thing is that the car has been off the road now for about a month and a half, been in at a garage for a solid week, and just yesterday i had a bit of a fiddle with the leads and injectors and now the car is running as new :bowrofl:
Dont ask me how or why i'm just happy that she's going again. Wasn't sure to give a big boot as it was misfiring after 4000rpm full throttle, but it seems to be getting there half throttle with no missing at all.So fingers crossed she's back from the dead!!
