Hey, just a quick question, My car is due for the 30,000 km service. Car has only done around 20,000 but last major service done just over 12 months ago. New car warranty runs out in April. Firstly, got quoted $170 from the dealership the car was originally bought from by the previous owner, does this sound around the right price?

Cos the warranty runs out in April, was thinking of getting a warranty inspection done by RAA, that was quoted at $136 for mechanical only or $170 somthing for full mechanical and body inspection. What do you guys think, is it worth it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Should I just get the mechanical or get the full blown inspection?

Also any one know if the new car warranty can be extended, have heard from someone that this is possible with Toyota, is it possible on a Magna?

Any info feedback much appreciated :D

Tell me about it, but has any one els been in a similar situation, my new car warranty is about to run out in a few months, is it worth getting a warranty inspection considering the car has only done 20,560 approx km?

And is it even worth getting a service now, cos if i dont i void my warranty, but thats only gonna last a few more months any way....???? :doubt:

For one you don't have to get youyr car serviced at Mits. And yes I would personally get a warranty inspection before it runs out, just to make sure nothing is wrong cause hell Mits won't point it out.

If Keith works at mitsubishi, he should know that 30,000 is the first, so called "major service"! shouldn't he? So the price sounds about right. I've only had the 15,000 done on the ralliart and that was $130ish. Your cheap crappy places charge around the $100 mark for a full service, unfortunately this is the way of the world!

A 45,000k is the first major, a 15,000 and 30,000 are exactly the same. I minor service, Oil filter and oil. But thanks I should know I work in parts

So your saying mitsi wont do a very comprehensive saftey check etc, they're just gonna top up fluids, change filters and thats about it right, but the warranty inspection will give it a more thorough look into and highlight anything that should be fixed/replaced which is covered by warranty. Does this sound about right??

sorry to hijack the post but didnt see any point in posting a new thread.

My car is almost due for its 60,000k service, What exactly is required/recommended for this service? Do I have to get the timing belt changed? Anything else major that should be done?

My experience with Mits is they wont tell you what's wrong until they will make money out of you, get a independant warranty check

I have just has my service for 30,000 (2002 ralliart) km cost me $150.

And yep no big diff from the 15,000 & the 30,000 service. (check the service book)

I would get it inspected by someone other than a dealer, find a good mechanic.
I personaly use a repco aproved place, thay dont tend to stuff you around the the prices are reasonable. also that supply a report on the cars condition.

I think from the replies I am more convinced to get the warranty check, just to be on the safe side, and for piece of mind, so I know how the car is. I havent had it looked at since I bought it so that may be even more of a reason to have it independently checked.

Cheers guys, much help :D
