Hey All,
Been a good couple of months in the working, but my car is about a week away from completion! The motor has been installed and all vital fluids replenished, ECU installed and wired, i will tune it tommorow. I will update this in the next day or so to let people know when it does go, im just awaiting the arrival of an Igniter to get the car running.
Pics attached.
Thanks,
AF

i have an 86 tm-se what manifolds you use for a turbo setup.. and since its a carby would i have to use the sigma turbo drawthrough or could i keep mine or a webber.

aussiefellas car is EFI. u can still turbo a TM carby though (which is what im doing) fine. u can either get a sigma turbo manifold or get a custom one built. i wouldn't use the stock magna carb to turbo, noway. it's too complex and costs heaps to rebuilt each time so definately get a different one.

thanks heaps for that as i can get hold of a siggy turbo manifold and t25(i think) from my sigma turboed friend..... what carby are you going to use??? can a webber handle +pressure?

what turbo is on that mammoth AF?
did you figure out where to put the boost gauge? now u have a photo i can show u

yep
:D
just need to make sure it has a steel float because the plastic ones can crush

what a cute tappet cover

as the most engine work ive done is a service, and a radiator flush, is there anything i should be careful of, if i was to take off my tappet cover n gay-a-fy it?

hey TM-SE-RED, i noticed on your car pics that i cant see a radio antenna?
its just that the last time my car was out in the rain, my right arm was getting dripped on from rain comming thru the roof mounted radio antenna, so i was thinking of relocating or it or something better, somewhere else
(was thinking something like where the xf falcons have theirs, as my last car was an xf)

lol, im surprised you noticed the dipstick!!! Nice one...
TC: The turbo is a TD04L (WRX turbo), no i dont know where to put the boost guage yet, edit the pic and post here plz.
Thanks for the responses guys! Ill get a basic tune on it soon.
Also, someone asked about my air intake ****? I have got the original airbox with an aftermarket MAF sensor, but i dont have the top half of the airbox, and the stock filter, ill attach a better pic when i get home (Im at school at the moment.

Well well well...its after months of hard work looks like its sorta put together now! I like the rocker cover...this man is cool.
God damn!! Looks like your car will be on the road before mine!!!! I have to put it down to the more power the longer it takes.....hahahaha

http://users.tpg.com.au/charadet/temp/boostgauge.JPG
the thing circled is the Throttle body, anything after this is under vacuum and boost depending on throttle and rpm. get a T piece for vacuum lines and put it in somewhere after the throttlebody (towards the motor) and that way u get vacuum and boost on the gauge.
get better pics and i can tell you exactly where to put it.

i think youll find the water leak wouldnt be coming from the antenna but as for a different location...but you could put one where the elites have the electic ones on the back gard where it goes flat.
and aussie just wants to bring out his true colours.....on his rocker cover :P
but good work finally its all kinda together now
and eek didnt we tell you to get out of our section

nah its from the radio antenna, cos when i was parked waiting to pick up someone, i pulled away the ceiling crap, and saw it dripping in.
i was thinking id just get some sealant crap to block it up for now, but i really hate how it looks with the antenna on the roof.
To fit the electric one, id need to make a hole, and figure out how to wire it all up right?
:doubt:

my radio antenna is still on the roof in the stock position. haven't touched it. i have however thought of installing an electric one on the rear left of the boot on the 1/4 panel. that would be a piss easy place to put it

i thought about turboing mine for a while but convertin to EFI is too much hasel, a carby turbo setup would cause headaches too :S
i mean ive looked at both draw through and blow thru setups and found blow thru to be a lot safer. wat i think id need;
- turbo (t28)
- new carby built prob webber built to handle blow thru
- a fuel regulator to supply more fuel when under boost (maybe??)
- manifold
- a good tune
now im not sure if all this $$ is worth it for the power output i mean max you could prob run is 8-9psi on an auto with stock new internals.

Hey All,
TC: there not many pipes after the throttle body to put the guage, just the MAP sensor...
EEk: Please go to your own section! :P
mad_lante: I like purple :)
subby: EFI conversion is piss easy, you dont have to change the steel fuel lines under the car or the fuel pump, as described in previous write ups...Making the rest pretty basic...
Also as a side note, im going to be making a new manifold (I decided to not do a strut brace as theres nowhere to attach it) Once i have finished that i may be looking at giving that to someone who wants it for a turbo setup at a low cost, i may even include the turbo if i do the flange to suit something else....
Thanks,
AF

so its only a matter of obtaining;
intake manifold
throttle body / with maf sensor
injectors
exhaust sensor (which prob will mean new exhaust manifold)
an ecu of some sort.
bolting that on is no probs wiring the factory ecu will kill me........ unless theres a cheap aftermarket one around ?
the only other thing is cost, how much would it all set me back using the above
1) parts listed minus any ecu
2) parts listed with fact ecu
3) parts listed with aftermarket ecu
if no pumps or fuel lines have to be changed then im all for it

The ECU isnt hard at all, i have the Wolf 3D V3, im wiring it as we speak and its just a matter of following the diagrams, i can help you with that, as i have done it.
You will need an intake manifold and T/B, a MAF isnt always nessecary, im not using one...
Injectors will be needed.
Oxy sensor is needed, i have a heated Commodore one plumbed into the exhaust below the turbo.
Fuel lines arent needed, but its reccomended that you use another high presuure pump, im using a VL Turbo one (Note, the RUBBER fuel hoses must be changed, its easy) The fuel pump is easy to put in...
Most of the stuff is just common sense, all the electrical stuff can be worked out with a multimeter, ECU manual and workshop manual.
Hope this helps :)

yeh the rubber fuel lines in the engine bay get changed to what? rip them off a EFI car and replace em? with the ecu i was gonna say it was hard to do with say a stock mitsu ecu with no diagrams or help, it would have to be aftermartket all the way to make it easier.

just get new high pressuer hose from a hose shop, cost about 7 dollars a meter

Better to go with aftermarket ECU, easier to wire in, and the stock one wont handle boost.

hey subby, wen are u going to take ur car to the strip to get a time? i'm interested to see wat this nitro injection does
and oh... in the lists ppl are making to do the turbo setup, obviously u need a new exhaust manifold. wheres the turbo gunna sit?

yeh i will soon :D.
ill look into an efi conversion quite soon to get prices, like i said the only thing which will kill me is an aftermarket ecu, i dont need a over the top out of this world one but a basic one, and a lot are $1000 + for full engine management 4cyl, (not piggy backs).

Update: Finally finished all the wiring tonight, primed the fuel pump, connected up the ECU and battery, and switched it on....aaaannnnnddd! It didnt start :P Because i dont have an igniter...yet....But however, the ECU is working and reading good values, so onto a mild tune tommorow and then install an igniter, and all will be well....Only days to go people...
