Got myself a cheap set of indicators on ebay ($20 the pair) so thought I would hack into my old ones and pull out the orange plastic... then get some orange globes (the ones that look silver but flash orange).

It's a bugger to get the orange plastic out... I used needle nose plyers to smash it, then because the hole is small you have to break sections off and remove it a bit at a time. Theres also a screw that holds it in - but you can't get to that though the hole (why you have to smash it instead).

It is very hard not to scratch the shiny metalic inner of the lamp - I scratched mine quite a lot but it's hard to tell once the indicators are back in the car - as the plastic distorts everything behind... so it doesnt really matter that much. A silver perminant marker could probably touch the scratches up.

I didn't take a before shot... but here are shots with the indicator off, and with the indicator on. It is not as bright as before - but I think that is because I have cheap ($20) silver/amber globes - instead of the $70 version (I couldn't find the better quality version with the correct globe contacts).

also decided to replace my battery terminals at the same time (and put my factory air box back in as well - POD made the car run too hot as I mostly do city driving)

yeah they did come with clear ones (as opposed to the fully orange ones in the Verada) - but they have orange plastic internals (eg: you can see the orange plastic behind the clear plastic on your avatar).

Kim,

Yeah you've finnally done it - well done - should suit your car well.

This would have to be one of my favourite cheap mods out. Did it to mine about 6-12 months ago. Makes a big difference. I've even had other guys ask me what's different with the front of my car - compared to other standard Magna's. They can't pick it but they know something's different. (appart from it being lower and the verada grille)

I now keep lookin at my family car (2002 Tarago) and the orange bits in the indicators/headlights - I think this should be possible too - just the replacement cost of one of those big all-in-one headlights if I stuff one up, frightens me.

Cheers, Puck.

yeah it is suprising how much it changes the look of the front of the car...

hehe - yeh, the good thing about doing this mod to a magna is if you stuff it up... replacement indicators are relatively cheap.

It looks really nice. Makes the car look more moden :)

I need to change my terminals they are SHOCKING!! The one on the negative terminal is all black and feels like rubber.

:stoopid:
See no Fuse Hear no Fuse...

Seriously people!

If you care about your wheels, fuse any custom wiring as close to the battery as possible.
It is very easy for heat or friction to rub through a wire and once bare metal comes in contact with that section thousands of amps will pass through until something breaks the circuit.

Bye Bye car... Hello pile of ashes...

Indicators look cool

Peace

Tim

thanks killbilly - yes, fuse is behind the airbox.

If I had it any closer to the battery it would be ON the battery...

ever thought of puting the units over a open oven for a while to soften up the glue from the clear lense from the backing then remove the orange light cover from there then reglueing it saves trying to break it and pull it all out

but defently looks tops

^^
theres a useful link i found it when looking on what i could do to my tail lights as there kinda simlar becuase they got a clear lenses over coloured ones but also helps me to clean the inside of them too because the suns deteriated the glue and its gone ugly white
