hey all,

having a few problems with my car (tn auto carby) that i just cant seem to fix, they may/ maynot be inter related

Car is flooded 90% of the time i goto start it, need to crank the engine for almost a minute to get it to kick over, whenever i have taken the carby off there is always heaps of petty in the manifold. (i have used both the intank pump and the pump that runs on the cam, and same result with both, so guessing its not a pump related thing, have also changed carbys,
whenever the carby is off and the manifold drained, when it goes back on starts no problem, runs fine for the first few drives with no problems. then ill take it on a drive more than 10 minutes and it will be flooded when ever i goto start it,

idle adjust screw on new carby wont adjust idle, genna look into that myself isnt realy an issue probley just somethign jamed

Another big problem, after driving it hard, or above 70kph for a short while (10-15 min) it gets realy screwed
my rpms go all over the place jumping around then dies and engine cuts dead, yet can normaly get away with driving home after that if i dont go past 50 or floor it, was happening last week when i first noticed it after my first long drive in the car, to the point it just died compleatly, ended up with no spark so towed it home, module was dead, yet im thinking that could of been my trouble shooting that killed it.so thats probley not what causes it. all i know is the engine kinda dies, and some time its jumpy as hell.

EDIT last problem with engine dieing also seems to be absent strait after i change, remove carby and drain manifold

and its not the needle and seat, im pretty sure the new carby is in working order, and the old one seems to of been to
any help greatly appriciated

might know the problem, could be my intake manifold, if that is leaking it woudl only leak when water is flowing threw the manifold that i think is only after the engines warmed up a bit, so if there was a small leak it would be worse at higher rpms and temps, so could leak water into the manifold and cause the engine to not fire, also if a lil bit of water gets in then it wont start cause plugs would short, so no fuel would burn so that would explain the petrol smell after a bit of trying to start, so it may not be flooding

yet anyone have any other ideas?

If idle adjust screw has no effect , your idle cutoff solenoid might not be getting enough juice ,or is broken. Also a very jerky engine can mean a dying fuel pump , just block off the return line ( by simply compressing the hose with something) and see if it improves.

k, thanks yet im pretty sure the fuel pump is fine as i have tried 3, including a mechanical one
