Was having a convosation with a good friend who's a total revhead this afternoon about the possobility of installing a blow-off valve to my magna TE (at present stock, but just getting enough money together to do a whole heap of mods to it..incl turbo) untill then i had laughed at the idea of a magna being fitted with a blow-off valve.. :bowrofl:

untill i thought hey, ricey cars have em, why not a magna? that got me thinking, im aware or pretty positive that Boo'yah has one installed (love the teaser of the car:D) what about others? is it worth the cost and install for the show and sound that it would produce? im not looking to idealy turn my magna into a racer, but just a nice cuise car with a real nice look (pretty much a show-car - my dreams are pretty nuts ;)) so, anyhow i was wondering what people thought about the idea of having one fitted?...

At present, its not in my list of things to do to the car, but a maybe down the track, because imo, if your going to mod a car... mod it right. :D

Cheers

Please don't ever put a fake blow off valve into a non-turbo Magna. It's just..... disgraceful.

i dont see the harm in a fake bov..

its all about the 'wank' factor, everyone does it. Louder exhausts, bodykits, spoilers, tachos, rims, lowered springs..

most of the mods people do to their cars isnt going to greatly effect its performance. Its more to make it stand out and differ from its stock form.

dont put in a fake BOV, if u do that, jus go the extra mile (and extra few grand lol) and get the turbo... or install a supercharger and hav a loud wistle from a belt which i reckon sounds meaner than a turbo

yes, you really need a turbo for a BOV..... unless you get an electronic one that costs more than a real BOV....

or you could stab yourself in the neck for even thinking of doing it..... and your mate too :gtfo:

might as well try and bolt on another 2 pistons on the end of your engine and then you can pretend you have a V8

wouldnt it be easier to attach an external speaker under the car, have it attached to a switch or button of somekind inside so that everytime you push it the sound of a blow of valve would play through the speaker? :bowrofl:

Dont be a retard, if you dont have a turbo stop trying.

Im going to try that Hyper :P Rolling window down and doing a very loud 'PSSSSHT' sound when passing nice girls.. should do the trick.

The hanging out the window thing works.. i have supprised a few ppl, they actually thought it was turbo! :bowrofl: dicks...

You cant put a BOV on a N/A car, you need positive pressure in the intake for it to work.

But if you work out a way.... im interested :D :bowrofl:

Actually, i want a BOV that much im in the process of buying another turbo car for me to run around in for some fun. ANd a bit of a project car, i will be getting that very soon.

Guys I think you should all read the post again it sais that he is going to mod it"...incl a turbo" so I'm guessing the blow off valve is going to be a real one
And if that is the case, from what I've heard they are a good idea, they release some psycho pressure in your exhaust and wherever ealse it builds up - not too sure really what it does but do a search, I cant bring myself to educate myself on something wicked that I can't afford, like a turbo conversion... :D

Basically for a reliable turbo system with minimal boost lag between throtle applications you need a BOV.

The real question he should be asking is "should I get an atmo (illegal in most states) venting BOV or a plum back type that does the same thing, but discreatlly?"
:D

You hung out the window and made a BOV sound yet you call other people the "dicks"

Anyone else see a slight discrepancy here???  :slap:

Yes you can put a BOV on a NA car.....

Try this - chuck a small compressor in your car, have it pressurise a small tank in your boot.
then make a small plenum, mount the BOV off it, and on the line between the tank and the plenum, put a valve, like the ones on air hoses.

Mount that below your clutch bedal so it activates the valve when you depress the clutch and you are in business.....

or am I just a d*ckhead for telling them a way of doing this (please don't guys, it's very, very sad...)

I was stopped at the lights and some guy in an excel with a big wing pulls up next to me and starts revving and making blow off valve sounds with this mouth.

I got out of the car and beat him senseless....... no wait, I think I just drove away laughing.

sigh at everyone, he said he is thinking of doing a whole heap of mods (modifications), incl turbo (including turbo installation). He also mentions booya's car and blow off valve, and booya's car is turbo.

So i gather that he is not going to put an N/a blow off valve , but, is wondering whether he should put one on his car when it is turbo, and how much etc.

as for repyling to the original post, i have no idea how much it costs, maybe around 2-300 off ebay ?

and i think if u turbo any non-turbo car, u have to put on an atmo blow off valve, that way people know they just got flogged by a turbo ! hehe

later

So on and so forth, now I love WRX's BUT basically I ended up dropping back since I was laughing so hard.

I just love the positive intake pressure they produce. But the whine is cool to  . Personally I dont mind BOV's, real ones of course, if your not worried about the legalities and actually do go turbo then I say go for it.
