What exactly does the new car warranty cover.

I have a 2000 TJ with 81000km and the 20 th anniversary 160,000 km ,5 year warranty.

The reason I ask is that my air con died today. One minute it was fine, I stopped the car and restarted to find only warm air coming from the vents. I've checked the fuses and nothing seems obvious.

I've also noticed the shiny surface of the rear window seal is pealing. Is this type of thing covered.

What exactly is covered?

My Mits Dealer also services my car at every 7500 km and always puts the next service due at 7500 intervals and not the 15000 km as in the service book. Is this required or is he milking my wallet.

Thanks.

My TL is required to be serviced every 15,000K. Every 24mths the brake fluid and coolant need to be replaced. 7500k seems a ripoff. The oil wouldn't be cactus at that mileage.
Take it to an airconditioning expert and ask them to check out why it suddenly went warm. Ask for a price to fix it and what the problem is. This should be free. Most stuff like the AC won't be covered. It's regarded as normal wear and tear. If the fault is with the AC itself, you may be in luck. You may have done a compressor or you have a leak.
What do you mean by the shiny surface of the rear window?

The rear rubber window seal comes out of the factory with a shiny surface.
Mine is starting to peal leaving a dull black appearance.
I live in a warm climate with fairly intense sunshine but I keep the car under cover at home.

I know its not much of an issue but I would like to keep the car looking new for as long as possible.

I have the same 20th anniversary warranty , 53,000 on the clock and they replaced my clutch and an engine mount on mine, so i'd guess the aircon would be alright too. My shiny stuff is peeling off too, don't worry about it, not worth it.
7500 klms seems a bit early too should be at least 10000 klms or 6 mths

If you get your car serviced every 7500 km the engine will definitely last longer so if your'e keeping it for the long haul good idea :) Normal service is every 15000. The air con will be covered under the new car warranty and as you have had it serviced regularly at a mits dealer you should have no probs. Don't take it any where else cause that could void your warranty if they stuff around with it. New car warranty is bumper to bumper but dosen't cover tyres, brake pads, services or what are wear and tear items these are listed in the owners manual .

i have the same problem regarding the seal, my car is under factory warrenty too, i have heard mixed opinions about it. I dont think it will, because it comes under wear and tear. i think.
but my car will be due for service soon, will ask then.

Yeah 15,00 clicks is the standard service, but mitsu have an optional 7500k service, just for oil and filter basically. It's a good idea, 15,000 kays is to long for oil really, the oil itself will be fine but it collects a lot of crap from the motor in that time. The other reason behind it is if you dont do many kays, it's recomended to change your oil every 6 months, so if your doing 15k a year then the 7500k service comes in. So it's up to you basically, if you drive your car nice and do a few kays then don't worry about it.

As for the aircon, like BMS said it should be covered, especially if you've been having not just 15k services but 7.5 also. It's always worth a try even if it isn't :P

the a/c system if it's the factory system should be covered by factory warranty so should fit and finish items if you jump up and down enough.
as long as the damage is not down to tampering, abuse or accident

as above, the aircon belt and gas will not be covered unles the gas has escaped from say a faulty hose or aircon pump.

To have a quick look, the pump is on the front lower side of the motor. When off with motor running the pully will spin but the centre will not.

While watchingit have someone turn the system on and you should hear a slight click, the center (clutsh) should engage. Then fans should also come on as well.

I agree 15,000 is way too long unless you drive like a Granny. I used to have SR20De Pulsar SSS and I changed the oil every 5,000 with $55 Penzoil and the motor still ran like a dream after 220,000km, and I didn't drive like a Granny

If you can afford to get the oil changed every 7,500 then do it. Even if you do every second one yourself. You won't regret it, especially if you plan on keeping the car for a long time.

I guess you could call me overprotective then. I wouldn't dream of letting the ralliart go without a service (full one with new oil etc) for more than 4500km's, + i use an engine additive that i have a signed letter from tom phillips that says two things..
1) Great Product, wont void the warranty, go for it.
2) Dont put it in new cars (less that 5000km on clock) because the engine wont wear in.
Dont know anything bout me warranty. nothing broken yet. :D

faulty clutch on the compressor plus another electrical fault.

It will be repaired under warranty and replaced once the part comes in.

Its interesting because the Mits dealer took two hours to find the fault which they say they can't claim back through Mitsubushi.

Boy I miss my aircon.

Its lucky its not a Holden as when I had a VT II 'S' everything I went back for they said there was nothing wrong with it, bunch of liars :liar:. Sinch having a Mitsu, I reckon they have the best warranty I have seen, nothings ever a problem to fix.
