Hi Guys,

I think I may have raised this once before, BUT, wondering if anyone has ever tried bolting up a manual box from a 6g72 to a 6g74???

Further to that, has anyone tried taking a manual box from the 6g72 out of a TR/TS and bolting it onto a 6g74???

I think you can probably guess where I'm going with this. I'm guessing its unlikely that anyone has done this, BUT, does anyone know if its even possible??

On this, another question which springs to mind, is the manual box's from 6g72 and 6g74 purely mechanical? i.e. does the box only contain moving mechanical parts to transfer drive from motor to wheels or does it also contain certain electronics that need to be plugged into the wiring system of the magna?? If it does contain electronic componentry, does anyone know exactly what it does and if there is a way of getting around it??

Mark.

You could bolt a SOHC 24v 6G72 box to a SOHC 24v 6G74.

But you wont bolt a SOHC 12v 6G72 box to a SOHC 24v 6G72 or 6G74.

arent the engines mirrored from the 2nd gen to 3rd gen V6 engines, so the gear box would be facing the other way ????

When I think about it, I looked at Kims motor today and his intake was facing the other side of the car to mine, BUT, he had a 6g72 V6. Does this mean his actual engine is different or just the intake???

I suppose I would really like to know WHERE the gearbox bolts up and HOW it bolts up(i.e. bolt pattern), get me???? I want to know if it bolts up on the left or right side of the car.

The SOHC 12v gearbox bolts up on the left hand side. The SOHC 24v 6G72/74 bolts up on the right hand side.

For tech specs and diagrams on the 6G72 SOHC 12v and DOHC 24v get this document (about 4mb) (http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~monstr/6g72.pdf)
