Hey
Am throwing around an idea to make my TF a little more 'unique', and was wonderin what you all thought. I want to replace the material trim on the inside of my doors with this checkerplate stuff thats currently behind my number plate (see pic below). All the feedback I've had in Bris is that the stuff behind the plate looks good, but just need more of it- hence the interior idea.... any thoughts?

That stuff works for floor mats but I'm not convinced it would make a good door trim. Still, it's easy enough to re-trim your doors without removing the factory fabric just to get an idea of what it would look like. Then you can revert back to stock if it looks rubbish ;)

I've seen it be done and its not bad, until you get a really sunny day and the glare is like 100 high beams staring you in the face!

Have you ever taken the door trims off? That's the first step. There are three screws, one behind the door-opener handle, one inside the armrest and one in the circular aircon vent bit. (sorry, can't find my pics of a car door at the moment!).
If you haven't got power windows you'll also need to take off the window winders. Search around for instructions on how to get the clip out.
From there unclip the door trim all the way around by pulling it away from the door. It takes a bit of force - then lift upwards to remove.
Once you've got the door trim out, take a look at the back to see how to get the fabric bits off. There are 5 or 6 screws that need undoing for the top bit.
That's a really bad description of how to do it.. sorry  hopefully you get the general idea.

So for all you people sayin my interior would lok ricey---- why???Because checkerplate used in/on a car for any reason aside for grip on foot plates (non existant on a Magna of course) is rice. Personally I think that it looks horrible behind your licence plate, and it would look just as horrible on your doors.
But, if you think it will look good, go ahead.

Eek's interiour is awesome!!!
I was looking at getting the soft leather in red in my doors (4), the leather that looks loose, but where would I go to get it done and how much would it cost roughly?
nodz the vinal on my doors was cheap as chips... $10 bux a metre so was definately good for the out come... i reakon vinal or leather is the go

Personally, checkerplate is not my style, but if you like it, go for it. That's the one thing about modifying cars - everyone's is unique. I think either vinyl or leather in a contrasting or accented colour would be a better choice.
Your $$$, your call.

Checker plate should not be allowed near a car.

THanks for everyones feedback- most of you hate it- some of you like it- and those of you who said "it's your car do what you think will look good" - ROCK!!! As a result i'm gonna do it over the top of the fabric, then post some pics- see what you think when it's done then make a decision.....if it looks ****e you won't even see pics!!! Bring on the red vinyl....
There's just something that's gotta go over that ****ty fabric!
