Got the rocket cover off today as there was oil leaking into the middle spark plug and making it missfire so forth....
change the gaskets and new spark plugs while i was there, runs all smooth now :)
i suggest u do this if u have oil ontop of the rocket cover around the spark plug

How hard was it to get off? I wouldn't mind removing both of them and getting them powder coated.
4 bolts and it comes off, there is a few other things on there that u just pull out but other then that the fronts are easy, the rear on the other hand u gotta take of the tintake plenum

Nah on a Magna it is a rocket cover because they are fully sik man and go real fast lol
I was told that if I paint the pistons red and stamp go on them I should gain about 200BHP at the rear wheels, I will be sure to let everyone know how it goes :bowrofl:
look on the keyboard and see where the two keys are, R & T,
i aint perfect but hey
my magna is fully sick fast with a big fuel pump, fuel reg and soon to be supercharged,
lucky ive got red painted calipers so i can stop faster

lol i realise there right next to each other, like i said i'm not being picky,i couldn't care less mate, i just wanted to know for my piece of mind cause i've been saying "rockers" every time lol thought i might have been wrong and looked like a goose all these years.
p.s i only know the basics about engines as you can tell, good on ya for tacklin your own engine
after all the crap ive gone through before its easier doin most of the stuff myself, and saves a hell of a lot of money
also helps my mate has his own workshop and another mate lives with me who is a mobile mechanic

Hey Meh, did you have to use any silicon gasket sealant or whatever to seal the gasket when you put the rocker cover back on?
Im stripping the top of my motor down to paint / polish / hpc coat next weekend :D Can't wait!
nah caz i had all new gaskets there was no nead for it, i had some there but yer wasnt needed.
The 3 little o ring things that sit ontop of yur spark plug were $20 each!!!! but they were the problem i had leatting oil leak down onto the plug

Never use silicone on a magna motor, the silicone will damage the o2 sensor as it is a sealed crankcase. there are sealents that state safe for use on engines with o2 sensors
You should not need any sealant on a gen 3 motor, gen 2 needs a little at each end only.
Blake, when you do yous, make sure you do not get paint inside as it will flake and could cause damage.
The spark plug seals are avail through some parts places, ACL make them
^^^^^
What he said,
thats wat my mate said aswell, so had to fork out the extra money for the new spark plug seals
glad i did, dont want any future probs popping up unecessarily

Just to add to the mix, Mitsubishi call them Cam Covers lol .
Yes they are easy to take off/put back on, had to change the seal going around the cover on my mums car, 15 min job. Was tempted to do a test paint on it, but my mum told me not to touch anything else. lol , she has seen my car
