Well i've been doing a little bit of research and some people believe the VR4 4 cylinder will bolt into the 2nd gen 4 cylinder engine bay. Just curious how true this is? also how hard are these engines to find? (with turbo and sh!t all ready to go). Will the TR gearbox bolt up to the VR4 engine? Any ideas on how much a VR4 galant front cut would cost?
The only figure i could find was that it produces roughly 280nm of torque. I found heaps of info on the twin turbo 3L V6 VR4 engine though, man that things insane, 427nm of torque at 2500 rpm! :O.
Anyway and help/opinions on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

You can put anything in anything. It all depends how much time and money you want to invest. Now if your car is a 4 cylinder already it will probably go in without much problem. You will have to use a FWD tranny though unless you want to convert to AWD. Which is a SERIOUS task. Also need an ECU, Harness, and all accessories. Some "may" be interchangeable, what motor do you have now?

I have a 4 cylinder, thats why i wanted to know whether it was a bolt in, if i had the 6 cylinder i'd be getting the DOHC 3L V6 like KB, cuz i know that bolts in and is an awesome motor.
Also as for selling my car, it all depends on waht works out cheaper, 3rd gen, or VR4 transplant.

if u have a search threw the gen1 section ull find someones already done this and seeing as the 1st and 2nd gen 4cyls are the same you will have basicly the same issues from what i read its not a direct bolt up, he also used a manual trans which only needed a few tiny mods to bolt up but due to some thing i cant remember i think they changed that any way have a look around
also they motors arent to hard to come across but becuase there popular there very pricy

You don't need to run a FWD gearbox, my galant ran a VR4 gearbox with an RVR engine (newer version of the vr4 engine). It just had some things changed so that it ran in FWD only form. Not sure what though, i didn't put the gearbox in.
But if you can't get hold of a vr4 box a gsr galant box does bolt upto the vr4 engines. They die after a while though once connected to a turbo engine i was told by the previous owner of my galant.

im pretty sure the 6g from the GTO fits straight in the engine bay of the 2nd gen....

Yes it does, I did it.
But they're talking about something with the 4cyl mounts.

Yeh i'm basically going off the theory that, the V6 fits in the V6, so the 4 may fit in the 4. Also my car and the VR4 galant came out in '91, so theres hope! So my gearbox wont bolt up to the VR4 engine? maybe i'm outer my depth here, should just get a 3rd gen and have some stock power :).

Bad theory
The V6 fits the 6 because it's the same block...
