hi anyone had this happen,

when your acelerating as the car changes gear especially from 2-3 the revs go up and then drop.

i adjusted the throttle positon sensor to .50 volts and this helped but still does it and its worse when pushed at bit.

would my tranny need the bands adjustung or is it just stuffed.

any help would be appreciated.

by up, u mean the car revs out while the gearbox is changing gears, thus not in gear, so practically being in neutral?

i have no idea what it is, but i get the same thing

how high up do they rev?
and is this driving normally or foot to the floor?
my first gear always revs up an extra 250rpm on normal driving, and when im giving the car some, it revs up 500rpm on all gears, almost kinda like a clutch if u dont take ure foot off the accelerator, but theres no nasty thump after the change.

yeah thats what i get, but when its cold itll rev out from 3000rpm upto 5500rpm (by this point id freak out from the high revs) wait a sec, and then THUMP into gear.

i figure its just the bands, but like most things on my car, im too afraid to go ask the price of getting it fixed :P

i'd just say that these transmissions wern't the best transmissions out there... i mean for mitsu they were one of the first to be controlled by a TCU... so they would be prone to problems...


mine does this sometimes too... no thump or anything - just slips into the next gear but it just revs about 500-600rpm then changes gear - and yes it will do it no so much when you floor it, more so when you hold your pedel just above the point that will make it drop back into 3rd - so it makes it hold out second, but cos your foots not down - your not increasing speed (if that makes sense)...

yar, ****s me when u plant ur foot and the car revs out, but u dont actually move any faster :P

i love my auto gearbox, revs beautifully, you go hard it can reach anything up to 5000 rpm and hold it excellently, and thats without using the actual gear shift lever.
