Hi all,

I have a new deck, but havent had the time to fit it yet, so just bought a powersupply for the cigarette lighter to power my discman, and a male-male headphone cable to plug into the cd input on my stock deck.

With the discman running off batteries its fine. When I run it off of the cigarette lighter, it works, butthere is a high pitched noise coming out all speakers which makes listening to anything unbearable.

Any idea why?

Cheers
Pete

Altenator whine...

THere is most likely a poor connection between the ground in ur ciggy lighter (usually caused by ash etc in there or just a bad fit)
Since the unit needs to ground itself it does it through the only other lead which will be ur signal line.

The buzz is the flow of current through this wire.

If you pull up ur centre console ul see a little plug there (under the cupholders from memory) THis is for a mobile car kit and has acc, power and ground i think.

Test these out using a test light or multimeter and buy a cheapo 12v female connector to plug ur charger into. U should get a better connection through a new unit and u can hide ur wires away...

Peace
