hey, there is much debate about this... but does a leaded TM magna have a cat convertor??

my gregories seems to say that only unleaded models had it... and from what i know - leaded petrol destroys the catalysts in them

but i got have a huge thing just after the exhaust headers... which apparently is the cat convertor in unleaded cars (this is for a TM!! i believe other cars had their cat convertors elsewhere in the exhaust system)

any ideas - and no... i'm not taking stuff apart to check

well, seeing how you have a carby, you should, if u have a tn-p have a weird exhaust manifold, that goes into a bulb kinda flask, which essentially is your cat converter. leaded magnas do not require them, and as it was the emission laws werent passed till 86 im think, and even then all car manufacturers could make the last of there cars without cats, but all car models after that had to abide by the emission laws.
so basically, you shouldnt have one....... however you could have one..... ive never had a tm, had every other model, so, not to up on that. i do remember a guy who had a tm elite auto, and he got headrs, and the guy doing the exhuast tried to adapt his bulb cat onto the exhaust line underneath which is standard. so, he did have 1, but his was an 86, so they may have added 1 by then, plus i think his was unleaded.

if you get it converted to unleaded, im not sure of what happens then. but by yr factor you shouldnt. our 66 valiant runs premium now, and by law being the age it is, despite running diff fuel, does not require a cat....

my vacuum system/emission control system is like made up of like 3 hoses... none of this air injection into the exhaust stuff... or thousands of metres of rubber hosing...

so basically i run my car off unleaded... i just advanced my timing lots and it off BP Ultimate - cos i get like another 100km out of a tanks... and the sensitive thorttle

with our sigma we basically replaced the head drained all the fuel from the fuel system, and had the carby blown and cleaned then runs unleaded. mind you sigmas are easier and we have a manual.

ive got a cat looking thing on my car, the motor has been replaced (another leaded motor), about over a month back when leaded fuel was scarse around here, we stuck unleaded ($10 worth) in without inhibitor, seemed to run ok

If i do have one, and leaded apparently stuffs em right up, how would i know?

why i doesnt do any damage unless u have a cat and leaded is a higher octain then unleaded so you loose power

reminds me of the similar type u get on the falcons, and what ever helps my love sickness over my beloved falcon on me current magna would be good :P

it's factory... 3 hoses is exaggerating... maybe something like 6or 7 in total... but they aren't coloured/striped cos there's heaps like ULP, they are all black. Just the leaded magna didn't come with half the stuff that unleaded ones come with... like vacuum valves, switches, etc event he distributor is different (it has one vacuum port for advance, not two - but now i got unleaded on and connected the second vacuum hose to where it would go in a ULP car)

that's it... i got that, (see how we are minus that air injection pipe that ULP magnas have) but gregories says my car doesn't have a cat convertor... so i assume mitsu just made the one exhaust and put it on everything - and if it was ULP, then stuck the catalysts in that thing otherwise left it empty... gregories is written based on the manual that mitsu have (that big fat bible/folder thing that tells you everything)

i was so glad to get rid of that ridiculous power restrictor, coz thats all it is. i got extractors, and man is it a difference. but yeah, thats ure cat. stupid thing isnt it

nar the TNs had that shape, the higher models had color coding and the lower spec had chrome like your door handels

yer my mates doing a efi conversion on his sigma now and was told that everything can hold up to leaded except cats, and the oxy senser found in the upperspec EFI models
but yer dunno if its true or not but i cant see why it wouldnt be, next time you see to a mac ask them

hate to ruin your upper class model efi dreams of the best grille, but it was first made for the base model TM with a CARBY, lol, but it was a dull greyish sprayed color and didnt look very attractive. the chrome version looks slightly better and the body colored ones were used in the TN elant'e

hmm i think your wrong again haha the TM all had the same grill it wasnt till the TN till they looked like mine

hell yer just look for a TN, if u want a chrome one get a TN exec if you want a color coded one either find a elante in your colour (rare) or go find a nice TN glx grill and paint that :D

hmm body kit wreckers?? good luck tho there very rare this is why i bought a elante (factory fitted kit) and yer lower it too make it look gooooood

you can be extremely lucky finding the elant'e kit in a wreckers, i found a gt in a yard and got the kit off it for $30, such a score, but not to often you see em.

NNNNNNOOOOOOOO, not unless you wanna take mortgage on your house. they charge next to a new car for engine parts let alone for something that rare. if you cant find one, unfortunately you can always go custom, dont see whats wrong with that.

if id get off my ass you could have the front lip of my car, but it needs to be repaired, so.... plan to do a custom kit on my car eventually.

hey you know you indercator mod why not do it to the side ones all youll need to do is heat the units up pull apart the glue and remove the orange bit and replace with clear and maybe run the clear along the road to give it the frosty look

i'm actually doing 1 better, but not giving any info till ive done it.
