You may have come accross this problem before, but I have not found the exact answer here yet. I've been told that compressor and the crank pulley are not turning at the same speed and hence, the ECU turns the compressor clutch off. I've also been told that there is a module or amplifyer that may be faulty, and that it's prolly the drive belt slipping on the aircon pulley. The car in question has had a new compressor fitted 3 months ago, and a new drive belt last week(old one didn't look too bad). I did notice that there were remnants of rubber on the crank pulley. I cleaned it as much as I could, as well as all the other pulleys that the drive belt drives.
The symtoms are as follows. Aircon seems to work for a few minutes, then switch starts flasing and clutch is turned off. If switch is turned off and then on again, aircon seems to work for a few minutes, but then clutch gets turned off again. The dealer says it the belt, the auto electrician says he cant find a fault, the supplier of the compressor says its the belt of the module!
Has anyone seen this module? I have access to a local pick a part wrecker locally where this would be quite easy to get, but only if it in fact exists!
I dont have access to the car at all times, so it would really be good to be able to fix this problem quickly. Hope you guys can help........................cheers

It could also be a mix up of parts.

I would check what the original part No. were and compare them with the ones you have because if everyone is saying they are allright, it might be a mix in parts.

Or it could be something simple like a loose belt or something

it could also be low gas. If the gas is low in an aircon system then it wont work properly.

we had the system regassed when the new compressor was fitted in November. I took it back to the same place to get it checked, but the said they could not fault it. I have my reservations as they did not supply the compressor and may not want to diagnose someone else's equipment. Apart from the compressor and dryer, nothing else has been chaged, so all the other parts are genuine. Anyone ever heard of this amplifyer? or is controlled by the ECU, or is there a thermostat behind the glove box? cheers.

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know that it was in fact a loose belt, I really had to tighten it further than I was comfortable with, but it fixed the flashing light, and seems to cut in and out properly now, thanks for your help, cheers :D
