I know that my ecu will die soon(ish) 95 TS iv'e been told that a mitsu ECU has a ten year life span
and seen that many other owners are having small problems with rough/low idle, stalling, ect
and i thought this might be a possable fix to a possable problem

my kr was the same ie rough idle.
my mitsubishi dealer ship spare parts picked up an aftermarket ecu for about $750. with the old 1 going back for as exchange.

The 'bad cap' problem has been most serious in the PC industry. Everything from dead video cards, motherboards to PSU's.. I never thought of it happening to my car. :disgusted

im actually contemplating replacing my ecu soon as i've been have constant electrical problems over the last 2 months or so.
Started with clicking coming from the passanger footwell after i'd drive the car and park it, then come back and it just would not start. Now its not accelerating out of gears properly below ~3000rpm (most noticable when doing ~60km in 4th gear).
will have to rip it out and see if its repairable before i fork out the $$$ for a new/reco ecu.
thanks for the linkage :)
would this affect gen1 ECUs or TCUs?

Mr Puds, I had the same thing happen in my KR Verada. Eventually that clicking sound in the footwell used to make my hair stand on end.
Just be careful and sort it out soon. Eventually the car will stop while you are driving and this is not a pleasant situation. Mine died on us while we were on our way down south for a holiday.

im gonna attempt to fix that problem ASAP (even though it hasn't happened for a while now).
Can i ask what was causing the problem for you in the end?

It turned out to be the ECU. Mitsu had a go at repairing it, which didn't work and they then replaced it with a reco unit. Apparently it's a well known problem in the 2nd Gens.

in terms of one modifying there 95 magna would it not be better to source a complete new aftermarket engine management system?
