Hey, my brother's TP blew his headlights the other night and he's noticed that the electrical meter in the car, (not sure if it's volts or not, I'd suspect so), jumps up every so often and the battery light then comes on. We're just wondering what might be causing it. Regulator anyone? His radio also turned off so he thinks it might have some surge protection feature and turning the aircon on caused the battery light to turn off pretty quick.

yes it is the alternator, more specifically probably your regulator. prob faulty. if you were to say the car loses voltage, like volts keep going down and up, then def regulator. if the radio doesnt turn back on now, it may be the power blew the fuse.

i think chances are the regulator needs replacing

sounds like the regulators letting out more then 14v (hence why the light comes on) and putting the a/c drains alot of power so it will bring it down to a usualable amount which would mean the light go off
Been having the same problem on my TN Elite. Also blew the headlights last night....
Where's regulator on these things and how hard is it to replace?

I'm not at my car, but its a little square box, and i'm sure it's where the wires plug into the alternator, its 2 or 3, phillips head screws, and then just pull it out.
tho make sure the car is off first. :D
