Good
Well I finally did it 3 years down the road. Spent the best part of Thurs fitting King lows on the front and Lovells (low?/superlow?) on the rear. These springs are now in their 3rd AMC car  . Thanks Magnaficent for selling em. Pics attached. Don't dis the wheels, hope to keep some cushioning in the ride for the sake of me back :D . All ready for the family trip to Warwick on Sat or so I thought.

Bad
When the time came to drive her the alternator front bearing sh*t itself  . Haven't had it out the driveway yet and it wont be till some time thru the week till I get time to pull down the alt and fix it  .

How bad do you reckon I want to get her on the road.

Cheers

PhilsTH.
I think it sits very nice, dose not look to be to low. i lowered my car 30mm and think it looks ok, didnt want to lower it to much as it is a family car and didnt want to feel every bump in the road.

Sharkie. The springs are not that hard to do, you do need a spring compressor to get the old springs out. I think its alot harder to do the back springs than the front.

probably the same price as labour for fitting if you shop around - then again, start asking around at work, good chance someone you know already has one.

spring compressors don't cost all that much. I'm still thinking whether I should do them myself or pay $300 or so by Whiteline...Hmmm....or I'll just get them to tune it properly...

mmm, that does look nice, but i personall would go lower :P Whats the ground clearance now? Oh, and I think you'd need a wheel alignment soon too

Posted a couple of hours ago and forgot to comment on how much better it looks - sorry phil, what was I thinking.

From the pics I'd say it's pretty much the same height as mine with kings lows front & back (even though I'm pretty sure lovells supa lows are sposed to be a bit shorter). Definetly makes a big difference to the stance of the car without compormising the on compfort.

That's what I wanted, no more 4wd look :) .
Thanks for the pos feedback. Got a spare hour today to do a quick confirmation on the alt and it wasn't the problem, lets just leave it there  .

Edited this paragraph.
Spring compressors where about $50-$60 4 years ago. The guy said we have cheap ones, but if your serious get these ones a little dearer but they'll last for years, glad I took his advice and didn't buy cheap ones.

Very happy with the ride firm but not harsh, marshmallow wheels help with this I'm sure. Feels much sharper in the steering and doesn't head skyward when you put the power down better grip.

For what it's worth the rear sway bar was still the most noticeable handling improvment by a long long way. If you went from stock (no rear bar), to low springs shocks, sway bar and strut brace in one hit I reckon the first L/H corner you went round you'd end up on the footpath :bowrofl: .

One other thing my original shocks are still OK in that they still drive to full extension.

Cheers

Glad to know you are happy with the results. Now take it to the track and see if a stiffer suspension helped your times. :D

DO you have a strut brace bar as well?

DO NOT GET CHEAP SPRING COMPRESSORS.

I ahve said this before here many a time, Choonga knows all about the cheap ones

A guy I knew nearly lost his life changing springs in a workshop situation when one failed.

Check www.madmagna.com for details on changing springs the SAFE way
