This pic is of a 1998 Galant VR-4
now i know for a fact the old 3000GT engine bolts straight into a 2nd gen because the engine is located in the same direction. Now after looking at the pic of this engine, it looks like it faces the same way as the 3rd gen. i'm not sure of engine numbers but it could possibly have to same engine mounts as a TE-TL magna.

Has this been thought of before, researched or looked into in any way??

cheers

well if it was to go in and seeing the cost and effort involved, i would suggest going all custom stainless piping neway. the biggest concern is just the engine mounts. if it bolts in your on easy street.

just because its mounted the correct way doesnt mean that it will fit......... but then again, with enough money, anything'll fit. it would certainly be nice if it dropped straight in though.

possibly the 3rd gen bow could bolt straight up to it.
i dont like using the 2nd gen as an example, but i know the 2nd gen manual gearbox bolts straight up to the 6G72TT and non TT engines. Its just a matter of the block. did mitsu use the same or similar block for the VR4 galant as they use in the magna

well thats a 6A13,
i know of a place that has a FWD gear box from a 6A12TT wonder if that will fit

other wise u could try n match up a 6G with the 6A gear box's

some one suggested to me, because the 6G72TT is backwards seeing its the same block just spin it around and use the intake plenum from a 3rd gen 6G72...

slightly off topic , but i been told that the 3000gt engine can be put in AWD's .... find a wrecked 3000gt manual gearbox and u got ur self a twin turbo awd magna :D ........... sound good in theory im sure there are reason why this wouldnt work .... but just inmagine if it did :D

Mounting is still in question... but I have both mounts so either way I should be ok..
As soon as I have finished doing up and sold my unit I will complete this project..
As said I do have the motor and gearbox sitting in my garage .. Ive already taken it out of the front cut.
It is only a 5spd SA and Im looking at getting a 5speed Manual.. but they are like hens teeth :(
Not sure about dowels for the gearbox.. wether or not they will bolt up to an Australian 5speed Manual.... you can get they same motor non turboed in a FTO... so you can also get manuals for FTO... SO... you could get a turboed SA from the Galant 4wd and then get the Manual from the FTO and bolt teh whole lot into your FWD Magna.

What would be REALLLLLLLY handy was if ANYONE had a Australian 5 speed Manual box... and they could take a rubbing of the caseing... that way I could compare it to my motor.
the drive spline size and number of ribs could also be an issue.. but I guess if you used the Aussie Clutch and flywheel .. and it has the same number of bolts to attach to the crack then that should sort out that issue as well.

Yeah I was thinking that as the engine is a 6Axx and not a 6Gxx... anyway I may see if one of th wreckers has them out of the car already.
Hmmm wonder if Booya has a spare one sitting around?

As if. The engines are the wrong way around for a start. It would be fine for a 6 cyl 2nd gen though. Actually, I think I know of someone who has done this.
that m,eans nothing in adelaide we have a mirage with a GSR 3 engine in it , whats so significant bpout that ? everything is back to front. it costs money but it CAN be done
