 Does anyone else have a problem with there trip computer.
Put $50 petrol in and shows 300km's.
Next time put $50 in and shows 500km's.
Even if the price fluctuates it shouldnt give 200km difference.
Any thoughts....

Do you RESET it each time you do a full(ish) tank?

(hold down the Mode button for 5 secs)

You're talking about distance to empty, yeah?

The trip computer guesses based on your average fuel consumption figures. If you've gone from using 12L/100km to using 10L/100km it's going to change the estimated distance to empty figure a fair bit.

If you've reset your trip computer shortly before filling up its guess is going to be way out.

Reset it every time.
Something weired happening.
Had the TJ for nearly 3 years. Every 2nd or 3rd tank she plays up.

your trip computor figures are a wild guess at the best as there are to many factors for it to give an accurate figure

i wouldn`t worry about it too much and just use the figures as a rough guide

Reset it every time.

Not an answer to the original question, but why reset it each time? If you never reset it, the average fuel consumption figure would be more accurate, and therefore the distance to empty should be too. :)

In the TJ (I'm not too sure about other models) you can reset the trip meter without resetting everything else. Hence your average usage is based on all your previous history.

In my TH resetting seems to reset all 7 (6?) functions, at least it did the only time I did it.

I have a TH too.. you should know the thing resets itself at 20 hrs of driving time anyway. There isn't much point not resetting it when you get a new tank.

Well, considering I've owned the car for less than a week, can I be excused from being expected to know that? :)

Heh, sorry about that.. I haven't had mine a whole lot longer. I figured people around here were more experienced.
