Hi folks. I've had my TH Sports for 4 days now, and twice while driving the 'engine' light on the dash (the one shaped like a little motor) has come on, along with the "TCL Off" light. On both occasions they both came on together while cruising along a straight section of road in top gear (ie not thrashing it :) ) and didn't go off again until the car was turned off. The car didn't display any other apparent problems, and everything was normal again next time it was started. I don't have the owner's manual to check the meaning of the engine light - anyone got any thoughts?

Talked to the service guy, he says it's usually serious, and accompanied by really crappy performance (aka "Limp Home Mode") The fact I'm not experiencing that indicates it's something trivial that just needs clearing from the computer's memory (which he said is also quite likely.) Anyways, it's going in to be looked at Thursday. 50km drive there, drop it off, pick up a loaner, 60km back to work, probably the same in reverse the next day. Bah. :(

What you could have done was do a diagnostic check yourself.
See thread: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13067
The light commonly turns on if a particular sensor is getting some really random readings.

Ok, got the results. Code 71, which means "TCL vacuum sensor voltage indifference." Apparently the sensors run a very low voltage and are therefore susceptible to dirty contacts and such. They checked and cleaned the wheel/TCL sensors and contacts, and all's well. :)

PS: Nothing like driving a Hyundai Lantra for a day to make you appreciate your Magna!

Very informative post TecoDaN, thanks. The list of codes you posted didn't include 71 though, so it wouldn't have helped me. :)
