Got my new exhaust system installed today, consisting of a free-flowing muffler, nice stainless tip and the resi's removed. For anyone interested, had ace exhausts in Ringwood to do the install and it cost me $230 ($50 for the tip). Looking and sounding pretty good :D .

Is it quite loud because it looks like a relatively small muffler?

I'm guessing your happy with the resi off?

I wanna hear a magna, preferable a 3.5L with some or all resis missing so I know what it sounds like :)

I got mine all put through last week including the extractors....

It does sound a bit buzzy... but its still quiet while idling...

with the full system (extractors n all) performace... you can feel the difference ;)

heres my lukey straight through 2.5 its a huge muffler :S

Strung_out, that is one tiny muffler. You could fit another one in there by the look of it. My muffler is standard and it is the biggest muffler I have ever seen.
How does it sound. Doesn't look like a big enuf chamber to get a good deep note.

Yeah, the muffler is pretty small, but I think the angle I took the picture at makes it look smaller than it is. Just went out and took some measurements; 370mm x 250mm. I'm quiet happy with the sound, nice and hearty, but it has the tendancy to get a bit tinny under heavy acceleration, maybe due to the lack of resinators. Overall though, im happy with the look and sound considering the price. I may take an audio clip of it, maybe in the next day or two.

press bent?... this couldnt b the reason it sounds tinny? press bent systems dont tend to sound as good as mandrel bent ones (or flow as well)

press bend for excel. the only reason i can think of that pressbend systems sound siht house is the lack of welds like a mandrell woudl have, the welding braces the exhaust and stops it from resonating at that horrible excel/civic rattle. no one who wants a performance setup should get press bends. if u just want a ricey sound then press is a cheap way of getting it.

i only got the muffler installed and the resinators taken out, not a cat-back system, so the stock piping is still in place. There are only short bursts of the tinny noise under heavy acceleration, im pretty sure this is a result of the resinators being removed
