Hey took my car for a drive today finaly got it working, i just cut the fuel to stop the car so it wont flood after i turn it off, stupid tihng, idle is stuck at 2G outa gear and 1G im gear.
Went for a drive, power normal at14 volts, then it started to drop, battry went dead, openeed the bonnet to find my headers (stock TP with cat for carby car) glowing red, as in nice pretty bright red, and i think its melted something on the alternator cause its right next to it, any one have ideas what could make em glow red? car temp is pretty much normal
thanks

remove the turbo perhaps? :)
never heard of that, if it was general overheating probs i can tell you how to fix that.
by the sounds of it the cat maybe completely mcblocked and the heat built up coz it didnt have enough release.
thats a guess, comes from no technical thought what so ever.
so its prob crap. :D

neeeeeeeh, i wouldnt say running rich would do that, unless u smell fuel through the exhaust system, mainly on startup, then its not running rich.

Voltage regulator has probably cooked or the alternator has melted a winding.
The only time I've seen an AstronII with glowing headers has been to run one on the bench at about 4000rpm for 5+ mins non-stop with no airflow.
Knowing all the AstronIIs I've had contact with, they'll be KNOCKING like crazy if they ever got anywhere that hot on the road.
Gotta salute to you..

lol, quite funny. shoulda had a camera when you popped the hood.
tho for argument sakes to not get confused, should be called the manifold, as headers are diff. and headers can achieve it easier, being your stock manifold it really is quite odd to hear, i havent really found anything else to contribute to it, has it occured again?

lol yeha i took of the ***** man those bolts on the top were a pain,
yet yeah got rid of the guts
its not a high flow muffler im putting on actualy, its a mates olf muffler, that apparently has decent back presure and from the way his car was goin with it on compared to the cannon it has now, i think im genna like it, yet the high flow cat is a must have

let me know if it pings down low < 3k rpm as i think lack of cat innards is making mine do this (exhaust side of things flow too well), big weekend for me coming up, new clutch, drive shafts, water pump & old cat back on with innards :P untill i have the funds to buy a commodore cat but reg comes 1st $450! this yeah thats amost the cost of a 2nd had wolf 3d ems
