Hi,

I have a 2003 Magna AWD and want to replace the head unit in it. Can anyone please advise how difficult a job this is? I have a copy of the Mitsubishi service manual and it explains how to remove the centre console - but it seems to involve poking a special tool into the air vent to release a catch. Can this be done without this tool? (I can see no other obvious screws to undo to get it off)

I am also a bit worried about the possibility of setting off the airbags? Should I be?

Thanks

Woz

(appolgies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it. Feel free to prod me in the right direction)

The job gets easier and easier each time u take of the dash but no its not a very hard job.

U dont really need the special tool to poke into the air vent i didnt just moved the airvent a little bit out and then unscrewed the screws that it was blocking.

U shouldnt set off any airbags as the sensors and things that set them off arent located near the radio at least it dosent look like anyone has had them open on them, so no.

There was a thread with a DIY of removing the console written by s_tim_ulate, though i dont know where it has gone but hed be able to direct it to you.

just look for screws and remove them, its all about hands on experience to learn stuff
