Hi Everyone,
Just curious as if anyone has experianced this before. When I start my car in the mornings the idle jumps up to about 1800 and stays there. Its not till i drive for about 400m and do a few gearchanges before it starts to settle down.
I've noticed if im driving and put my foot on the clutch to put it in neutral, the idle drops very low and is erratic.
Just wondering if its the dreaded ISC motor that everyone seems to have problems with?
Do you know if you can do a self diagnostic with the TJ? If so how do I go about doing this?
Thanks all :D

If your engine is cold it will idle higher for a few minutes and step down progressivlly as the temprature nears operating temps. As for the eratic idle witht he clutch in..I have no idea. :D

Yeah I know the engine will idle higher when cold but isn't 1800 rpm a little excessive? It didn't do this when I first purchased the car so i know somethings up.
I've also noticed, well it sort of hard to explain but if your driving along with say 30% throttle the car feels gutless but if you just push the accelerater down to say 35 - 45% it tripples in power. It feels like the ECU kicks over to a new map or something.
Im suspecting a sensor is dead somewhere, I have my suspecisions i've killed the MAS sensor with my induction setup or the ISC is causing problems. Im not sure hence why im curious as how you do the diagnostic check??

Mine idles at 1800rpm for a sec when I start it, then slows down to 1100??? and so on.So it might be a sign of trouble??.Funning thing I learnt trying to get my idle to work. Was to have a tach under the bonnet and turn the adjusting screw outwards half a turn at a time.Every time I turned it and waited the ISC would bring it back to idle RPM.When it could not bring it back I went back the other way half a turn etc.,

To get codes, you earth out pin 1 on your OBD connector.I have it set up with a clamp which I connect and turn the IGN on.The check light and in my case the auto will flash.A steady flash will mean all is OK.

Thanks for that eagleaus, I will try that when my car is back together.
My car will be going into mitsu in a few weeks to have the recall fuel problem looked into and i'll get them to check everything while its there.
I was just curious what everyones thoughts were :D
