91 TR manual 4cyl........when idling strange clicking noises sounds dodgy.
and i also it just started doing this...when accelerating it revs as if i have the clutch in....way 2 quick.
im taking my baby 4 a major service next week but i wouldnt mine knowing what u guys reckon.

That second one sounds like a slipping clutch?

So when the clutch is out, it revs like it's in? Does it eventually engage and then you get some accelleration out of it? If so that's a slipping clutch. If not at all...then I dunno, maybe something more serious? But your car would be undriveable if that was the case.

That clicking noise I'm not sure what you mean, if it's ticking, then it could be lifters or tappets.

yea thatz what i think the noises r.....but the reving is wierd cuz its getting power and acceleration but its reving much higher than it should and if u stomp it. the rev jump basically straight up.

Hmm...without seeing it in person it's a bit hard to tell. But it could be slippingly lightly, so whilst it still grips a bit, it slips as well, so you get your power (but there would still be a slight lack of power..have you noticed this?) but the revs seem higher than normal.

A new clutch (stock replacement) I *think* is about 300 bucks, thats the clutch plate and pressure plate.

And as far as the tick, well I have a VERY loud lifter/tappet tick myself...and I'm goign to have to find out how much to fix it. Mine will probably be more expensive though, a lot of mechanics like to go "Oh an unusual car...lets screw you over". Have to hunt around for a good one.

if it is clutch probably should get that done at the same time as i get my gearbox done?? i gotta get 1st and 2nd gear syncros replace (mayb more).
that means im up 4 a few $$$$....DAMMIT
oh well i love my car and want it 2 b perfect.
how much do u redckon a major service should cost and what major shop should i go 2 cuz my mechanic is busy and its just basic stuff that i should do myself??

ohhh....dammit. does anyone know any good gearbox places on the gold coast....been ringing around but they r all bout the same....just wondering bout quality job??
