Hi there. Had to disconnect the battery the other day to fix the speedo up (see other thread by me if interested), and the engine wouldnt idle. (would stall). A mate at work reakoned that the engine management software was stuffed. I rang the local mitsubishi service department, and they said that that was the problem, and that for $60, they could fix it for me. Does anyone know a way around this problem? I am planning on putting in a new headunit, amp, and a CB radio, and for all of these, I will need to disconnect the battery. Does anyone know a way around having to go to mitsubishi, or does anyone have a copy of the standard engine management software? Thanks

Software was stuffed?
Software doesn't just stuff up :? (Unless it's MS!!!! lol)
The most common procedure after disconnecting your battery is to reconnect, and let the car idle for about 10-15 minutes.
Since yours wont idle, have you tried raising it via the BISS screw? Located on the throttle body. Try that and see what happens. You might need to raise it as it's not getting enough air at the moment at such low RPM. Raise it up...let the car idle for a while so it can recreate its idle maps and then try dropping it back down again.
See how that goes. It wont cost anything to find out ;)

Hi there. Well the guys at the mitsubishi service center (Well, ford, as they took over the local mitsu dealer) reset the cars computer, and it runs perfectly now. Just a question: If the ignition is off, can the air bag still fire? Just curious, as in my service manual (haynes), it is always talking about disconnecting the battery if the car has an airbag.
