i hate the gear knobs on auto magnas .... they look really pathetic with that funny button right on top of it ... since I have an Auto i was wondering if it would be possible to have it replaced with something else ... like this for eg:

I found this one on Ebay months ago - they're still there. Cheap too - about $25. No knob to bother about either - the whole thing pushes down to activate the gate - slick! Fits the Magna lever okay you just have to take about 1/4 " off the internal nylon activating lever - just cut a bit off the top is fine. Also use some rubber fuel line rather than the crap plastic shimming it comes with - to get a good tight fit on the chrome lever as such.

Ive got a after market gear stick on my auto TE, you can since one in easy just undo some screws, put the new on on, and screw it in. The 3rd gen magnas dont have a O/D button, so it is a very simple process.

Is it possible for me to do the unscrewing and fitting procedure or does it have to be done by experts ... If i need to have it replaced with a MOMO gear knob how much do i need to shell out ...

the old one has a screw, on the back of it, near the bottom. Unscrew it and snip a little bit off the plastic (because it makes the gear knob sit real high and looks gay). the new one has 3 allen keys. so slide the knob in, and tighten up the allen keys and you're all done. simple.
