View Full Version : Advice on 1995 Magna TS
Hi All,
I am looking at buying a Magna TS SE and I would like the opinion of several people on the model.
2.6L, 5 speed Manual, Fuel Injected, Aircon, P/Steer, Electric Windows and Central Locking, Cruise Control, Less 130K on the clock. $7500.
I have looked at several reviews on Magna the TS series (including http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14406) and from what I can understand, this model seems like a reasonable model, and generally reliable.
I have not physically seen the car yet, but I will be having a look today and I will try to provide more information.
Does anyone have any comments on the specific model and options or the price/value.
Thanks in advance.
Bob.
for $7500 u can get a TE/TF v6 magna....
personally i wouldnt pay anymore than $4000 for a 4cyl TR in good nick (not that i'd ever buy another one).
i mean i paid $5000 for mine over 2 years ago, it was also a 2.6 manual.
Reliability wise....they arent bad. the most common problem are valvestem seals really. Make sure with those KM's that it has had the timing chain replaced. if it hasnt u'll soon be adding about $600-$700 on top of that to get it done.

Extremely expensive. If it's in really good condition, and as it's only got 130K on the clock, I'd say the absolute most you should pay would be $5Grand. But you could probably get a V6 in the same condition for that much (well, $5.5G maybe), so maybe $4G, $4.5G for a 4cyl. If it's in really good condition.
130K is pretty low for a 95 TS. Most tend to be over 200K by now, which is where you tend to get more problems. Mine (V6) was about 155K when I got it about 9months ago, so should still have at least a few years of trouble-free(ish) driving left. You start to worry after the 200K mark.

I got my late 95 TS SE wagon a few months ago (5?). It's a V6 wagon, with all the options, and had 112,000 on it. One owner, receipts for EVERYTHING, serviced on or before for every single service up til I got it, absolutely beautiful condition, and it was $9.5k. Paid top dollar, but you'd be hard pressed to find a straighter ts se around. I was happy with the deal anyway. looked at several ts wagons, and this one won hands down. Go the V6 if you possibly can, it's soooooooooooooooooo much better. :)

and worth every penny, in my opinion. I looked at a LOT of them. Was glad to pay a bit extra. :)

Generally 4 Cyl go below 4 grand regardless for model , anybody asking for more (ie caryards) are simply trying to rip you off, for 7g you're should be looking at a TE v6 .

Yeah i agree with whats been said so far, $7500 is a bit expensive.
Thats the price i would be asking for my 95 ts if i decided to sell it (v6 manual with less than 110 thou k's)

Yeah, u are getting ripped off for that. I paid 5500 for my 95 V6 Wagon. It has every option the one u r looking at has, except for electric windows, and mine had 158,000kms. Try to find something better

hey guys,
im also lookin for 94-95 TS magna 3.0 v6 man. I found one on 153000kms for $4400 and its white(the best colour!). So yeh you can find them between $4-5k, and are usually on 200000+ kms. :D
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I have only just been able to log back in to this site (thanks to my own stupidity) and I want to thank you all for your reponses.
I took your advice, though it was not easy to find a Magna in good condition here in Brisbane, for much under $7,000.
But to let you all know, I have bought a Magna TE Altera in beautiful condition for $7,500, including brand new Pirelli P6 tyres, full service history with logbook and receipts since new, Rego, transfer, and (most importantly) a 10 cd stacker in the boot. :)
The only damage is an almost unnoticeable compression mark on the front bumper and a small (less than 4mm) star chip from the windscreen which I will get fixed. Apart from that, there is not a mark on it.
The Magna has high K's but the majority have all been from long distance trips.
I bought this TE from a luxury car dealer which he recieved as a trade-in. Suprisingly enough, I have never been impressed by car salesmen before, but there is always a first time. This guy was amazingly honest and easy to deal with. If anyone ever needs a recommendation, I will send them to see this guy.
I will get a few photos if anyone would like that. Just let me know.
Cheers,
Bob.

My 96 TS with alloys, spoiler and CD player speakers, no lectric windows or CC, with 130K also, But that was 6200 in Tassie, and i learnt that that was too much.
So on the mainland prices should be less than that apparently.
However, they are a nice car to drive and good fun to give a bit to.
