Hey all i visited my local Tonkins today and was recommended the following for my budget etc.. i had a listen and they sound damn good but this is what the guy recommended...

http://www.soundaround.co.nz/fusion/fp-504.html - Fusion 504 AMP x1.

http://www.soundaround.co.nz/fusion/fpw-1200.html - Fusion 12" Subs x2

1x set of fusion 6.5" splits.

He said that the above amp would be able to drive both of the subs AND the splits with no problems at all.. he also said I would be able to configure it so that the subs and the splits are independantly controlled by the head unit (alpine) as it has this functionality.

Does this sound ok? he quoted about $1248 minus discount for cash..

140WRMS is not alot of sub power - especially when it is going to power two of the buggers!

Without knowing your budget it's hard to make recommendations. One thing I will say is that you'd be better of getting one good sub rather than two average ones. Using a 4ch amp to power splits and a sub is very viable and a good solution if on a budget.

Never heard Fusion splits but I suspect there are better choices out there for the money. Visit www.caraudioaustralia.com if you want some good advice :)

mate
becareful where u buy your fusion gear

make sure u get it somewhere close to your home...dont go importing anything because fusion will b sure to blow up, or die, or short or somethin

3 of my mates have fusion gear and not one of them has had stuff that ahsnt died at least twice

but apart from that, its good gear and looks the part

especially those powerplants

if u wanna do a bit cheaper, but still have the same sound, maybe even a deeper sound...get some kicker comp VR's 12"
i got 2 and mate...they pump

not fussed about the brand of the amps or the splits but i really liked the sound that the fusion subs gave in comparison to the others i had a listen to (alpine, eclipse),...

budget: $1000 - $1400 tops.. this is for the hardware only no box or anything required... (wanna get 2 subs, set of splits and necessary amp gear)

haha.... thats pretty much the gear I got... except I got another pioneer amp so that the GM-X564 can just run the subs. I'll admit that it does sound pretty good for a budget setup... but seriously the subs just will not be done justice running off that amp. They need more power.... I've been running them like that for about a year now and I can guarantee you that you would be better off trying to scrape up a few more pennies and get yourself a decent class D Sub amp.

I've been looking at the Kicker KX400.1 to replace my Pioneer GM-X564... the amp seriously rocks... I heard it driving a single 10" kicker sub in store and it drove that little thing harder than I've ever heard my 2 12's go.

If your not into cranking your system right up with heavy bass beats, then you'll probably be quite happy with that setup, but you'll find that your subs will never be able to keep up with the rest of the system... they'll start distorting long before anything else in the system does.... and you'll never know what its like to have really tight clean bass.... it'll all just sound mushy.

I'm not saying that cause I've got anything against Pioneer (hell.. my entire system's pioneer)... I just thought I'd give another perspective from someone with that exact setup.

ok thanks fellas all taken into consideration..
heres what im thinking of doing at the moment..
(until someone tells me why not :) )
getting a set of decent maybe pioneer splits..
2x jaycar amps, 1 4x100wrms for the subs, and one smallish one for the splits and the rear 6x9's. Ill be putting a cap inline with the 6x9's t remove some bass from them to stop distortion..
then getting 2 of the above mentioned fusion subs... and driving them..

Hopefully all will sound good together :) - ill let ya know how it goes. i have been told to stay away from the pioneer subs for some reason - i know everyone has their opinions - i personally dont have anything against the pioneer subs but i just prefer the feel of those fusion ones..
:D
again thanks for the help..
