Hey All,

I have a loose thrust bearing in my TH Manual - i wanna know if anyone has had this sorta problem and what they did to rectify it - the mechanic i saw said - it wont affect the gear box so leave it so i did.

now however after driving fairly hard i smell something that smells like the clutch burning (not that you auto ppl know about that) however i know it isnt my driving burning the clutch so i have a feeling it is this loose bearing

Pls ppls i need help with this one!!

IN THE KNOW (hard head) - WHERE ARE YOU???

I had the same problem and took it back to mistu and they changed the oil in the gearbox. The noise went away for about 2 weeks then came back again. They also said it was nothing to worry about, and my personal merchanic said the same thing, so don't sweat on it. The noise went away after I had to replace the clutch, fly wheel and thrust bearings after a rush of testosarone in a large ashphelt carpark which promted me to put the car in reverse, full lock the wheel and drop the clutch several time :)

Ok - i will leave it be then - it is just so ***in loud it is irritating - but only in nutreal with my foot off the clutch - when i put my foot down it goes.

reverse donuts - nice - but i would never do it in my new car - have done it in old shit bombes on the gravel though!!

Manual, I'm in semi lurking mode. At idle does it take long to go quiet or is it immediate when you put your foot on the clutch...? How many kilometres on the car...? Personally, I wouldn't worry too much, you'll want to replace the clutch sooner or later so I'd do it then.

Idle mode eh??

as soon as i put my foot on the clutch it is gone - and as soon as i take it off the clutch (when it is outa gear) it is back.

the car has just over 70Kkm's on the clock.

yeah maybe i will do that. But my clutch is fine!! damn - maybe i get a better clutch - maybe double plate clutch?? triple - no way - they a bitch to drive with on a daily basis

If it was me id leave it for now, start saving and kill your current clutch...

when it needs repairing then you can look into getting a new clutch, perhaps a carbon steel flywheel and a new bearing.... Just an idea....

yeah ive had this problem for ages now when the clutch is in no sound when you release it that bloody noise , ive just left it and its been months now and no problems .... well for the last few months my clutch has been slipping so im just gonna wait untill i have to replace the clutch and then the clutch kit should come with a new bearing.

i dun even wanna think about what its gonna take to replace the clutch though *shudder*

Should onmly take half a day to pull out the box and replace the clutch - but lining it up to put back together will be the bitch!!

when someone says it'll only take half a day i allways multiply it by 4.

My neons were only supposed to take 3 hours but ended up taking the WHOLE day and i still have a couple of little things to do...
