hey all,
before anyone goes, "not another tyre thread", i have done some searching for the last hour or so on here. im just asking for advice and maybe personal experiences with certain tyres...
Pirelli P6000 ($102 a tyre i saw in a post from killbilly)
Bridgestone GIII (no price)
RE92 (not sure wat brand but $92 a tyre)
any other tyres ppl want to recommend?
this is for a first gen. wat im after pretty much is good performance through wet and dry conditions and some decent grip. wen this car ever gets turbo'ed i wouldnt mind something that will grip on the front. atm its shredding the crappy kumho powermax 769's... (with some heavy right foot accel, i dont do skids on purpose) these tyres i think are about $85 a tyre so i didnt expect much anyway.
im willing to spend about $120 a tyre... 195/60/15 is wat i need. not the biggest of budgets i know but im only a uni student. does anyone think the tyres i've mentioned above will suit my needs? all conditions, decent grip etc...
thanks,
brendan

I would not recommend Pirelli P6000's. Had them on the Ralliart, they wore out in no time and it wasn't like they handled that great to begin with.

Go to your local tyrepower and have a look at the Kumho Powermax. Great range of sizes, and my 3rd gen cost $120/tyre fitted. Low wear but not the highest grip I have ever had. Lowish noise.
I can spin them in first and sometimes second. First gen should be a good tyre.

yeah ive got the kumho powermax 769's on them now but they arent offering much grip and their performance in the wet hasn't been wat i hoped for.
i am currently looking at the Toyo TPG tyre found here:
Toyo TPG (http://www.toyo.com.au/TPG%20page.htm)
$140 a tyre apparently and they are a great tyre. im gunna get some 205/55/15's on the front, see if i cant stop traction issues once and for all.

Brendan, danni has wanli tyres on his car, ill get the model. they are exceptional and a huge stepup from his previous ones, although his suspention is about as good as it gets.

Well for wearability, we have put simex 195/60/15's on the wagon and they have lasted around 2 years!!! Not a bad tyre and only 98 bucks ea. got em at quickfit. all in all im happy with em. i know there no pirelli but hey they are good in wet and dry, they last and reasonably priced.

IMO
Bridgestones are sh*te. You'd be better off with a no name brand for cheaper.
Has anyone tried out Fedrals performance range yet.
Toyo have always done alright by me but on smaller cars, haven't tried their larger car tyres yet.

G-Grids i have i cant fault, they are about 2 years old at least and still grip like a mofo. they dont make g-grids anymore tho but ill probably be staying with bridgestone

ok... now that ive settled on the Toyo TPG tyres im wondering wat size tyre i should get...
1. 205/55R15 87V
2. 205/50R15 85V
now, i wouldnt mind the 205/50's but the load rating for my car is 86, which puts these tyres at 1 rating below wat my cars rating is. should i adhere to my cars load rating of 86 or would it matter if i dropped it and went the 205/50's with the 85 load rating?
this is for a TM 1st gen magna. i dont do any track work sorta stuff. its more straight line speed etc and i NEVER have a full car. at most there is 2 or 3 ppl in my car. (dunno if that affects load rating).
let me know wat yous think...
