Hey all,

Recently purchased my latest ride and all has been running without incident until 3 days ago. Got in the car to drive home and noticed a new lit 'message' (light) appearing on my dashboard. It quite simply reads 'PWR', lit in orange just under the temp gauges and has not gone off since it first appeared.

Does anyone know what this light represents? I don't have a manual for the car, and being a new Mitsi enthusiast I'm at a loss to figure it out. Any advice, answers, suggestions and the like greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ambience.

from my understanding, PWR just means your auto holds out it gears longer... there should be a ECON/PWR button somewhere (not sure on what a 3rd gen magna has, i know a TP gen1 and gen2 - like you have - have one)

How come my TH exec doesn't have one? I find it a bit odd, no overdrive, no power button..

Well, I guess it doesn't need the o/d button because it lets you manually select up to 3..

yea like everyones said. just holds ur gears for longer.. its the A/T button near the auto stick.

ie. When you floor it with PWR off (economy mode) it will change gears betweey 4500-4800 rpm.
with PWR on (Power mode) It will rev higher and change the gears at around 5500rpm.

Also when your driving under 55-50km/h it wont kick itself into 4th gear until u go pass abput 55ish..

So yea. if u wanna save a little tiny bit on fuel, keep power off, if u wanna drive hard keep it on basically :D

The Button ON the stick is the O/D button (Overdrive) when u press that it says O/D off, that means the transmission Wont kick into 4th gear no matter what u do.. its good for going uphills, or if ur pulling a trailer etc.

Its all in ur manual.. theyr fun buttons to play around with..

BCX7 and Iceman: 3rd gens dont have a power/economy button. Theyr computer is advanced enough to recognise the drivers driving style and kicks into power mode automatically when it detects the driver wants to 'have some fun'... pretty cool eh

and your 3 on the auto is O/D basically

I just don't know why many people don't know that

The amount of stories i've heard from people moving from an Excel or whatever into a Commodore/Falcon and they say: "Oh look! I've got a 3rd on the transmission now!". Derr, D is overdrive, your old car had that dummy!
