whats the cost of a auto transmission computer brand new and second hand (if you can buy em second hand that is?) i think mines about to **** its self. So the mechanic said..

As far as i know the TCU is inbuilt with the ECU. Unlike the earlier model falcons and commodores in which were seperate units.

the mechanic at mitsubishi said theres two seperate computers under the centre console
one for the engine and the other transmission. he took out the battery for 5 to 10 mins so the computers had to learn everything again once back in the transmission was still playing up he said its more than likely the transmission computer ???? :nuts:

What a dumb mechanic then! The Tranny computer is built into the ECU.

correct auto ecu incorporated into engine ecu located under heater box. let me know some more of this problem pimp as on a te you could also be looking down the barrell of a box depending on the fault.

ok junior i start her up driving along it might shift ok though 1-2 but when it gets to 4 and 4 it seems like it cant find the gear, looks again and bingo shes in other times it might dissapear fully and other times it might be 1-2 or any combination of gears ?????? it might also flare now and again .... does this help ?? junior

When's the last time that slushbox was flushed & serviced? Could be a mechanical thing...

sounds possibly ecu related.....can you take off a side panel and check the part no for me and when i go into work ill check the part number and as to weather the ecu is an old school part number which needs to be revised as there was concearns of this back in the te hey day.
