Hiya all! I'm looking at buying another Magna. Yesterday I was chatting to my Family in the U.S and one of my cuz is selling his Diamante over there..! I have seen his car when I was last over there, and it is friggin awesum, hell of alot better than the Magna's and Verada's for sum reason..! Basicly if I bought it and had it shipped over to Aus, what modification's (if any) would I be looking at????

LHD to RHD conversion lol nice and expensive.

Then all the things to do with compliancing. Plus to be a personal import you have to have owned it for 12 months (at least if it's coming from NZ) and to have lived in that country for a set time (12 months for NZ, need proof of residency etc etc)

LHD to RHD is around the $3k mark, also isn't there problems with different grades of fuel? also with the throttle cable it'd be tricky to change the accelerator cable around, hmmm...
Anyway if you have the money go for it.

Jeez, that's cheap. I am looking into importing a '69 Mustang from the US and to have it converted is in the region of 10k!

Yep, but we already have the RHD variant of the Diamante, so getting dash, steering pieces etc. isn't too hard. But at the end of the day it will become a 2nd gen Verada with frameless doors (Assuming this is a 1st gen Diamante we are talking about). The engine is nothing fancy either.

But I was (and prolly still am) planning on importing a Chevy Tahoe SUV and I found a local place who could convert it for around $8k.

I didnt think LHD to RHD conversions were nessecary? there are heaps of cars on the road that are LHD, Mustangs, corvettes, some cameros. Sh*T i even saw a 89 Porche yesterday that was left hand drive....

One of the rules is if the car is over 15 years old it is ok to be lhd, but i think the ruling has just changed at the start of this year. the easiest way to convert a diamante is just by a smashed magana for around $500 and use it for the parts you need.
