There is no cheap way unfortunately. In the end the most effective way is by buying the proper stuff.

On the weekend I did my door trims using 'Sound off'. Its like concrete works a treat. No rattles or vibrations through the door trim at all. You paint it on.

THis is about $55 for a 1 litre a tub and can be purchased from specialist car audio stores. (Central Car Radio for those in Melbourne, to name one)

It will cover two doors. (only one side per door)

Alternatively (or additionally) go for a tar based roll on deadener.

G-spot, Serenity Max, Stinger Expert. etc. All reputable brands.

Jaycar sell some cheaper stuff, but quality it nowhere near that of the others. And Flashtac is below all of these and in the end can be more expensive if u require additional layers.

A two door pack of Stinger roadkill (Enough to almost do both sides (inside of inner, and inside of outer door panels) Im sure would also be enough to do one side of door and boot. Costs around $130-$140 rrp.

If you get desperate and are in melbourne I have several sheets of deadener remaining. But shop around first and see what you can find.

I say go the good stuff.

You can spread it out and make sure you only cover the biggest panels (Anything u can push and move will resonate. You can lay it out in a checkered fashion, this achieves the same effect at half the cost.

Make sure u clean up ur doors using prepsol/degreaser first.

Doors have already been deadened with Stinger roadkill(already filled the service holes, i did the otherside of the trim(opposite the vinyl and fabric side) itself with the paint so no holes to cover up. Anyone that attempts this, make sure u give the plastic airvents a good coat from the inside, these resonate very badly from certain piano notes etc.

I filled up all the service holes in the doors with mdf before I deadened them.

Just in case ppl were wondering.. This type of stuff (Felt/underlay material) will help with road noise but won't stop resonance which is the major problem for anyone with bass. The only way to stop resonance is to increase the weight of the panel itself. Which is why paint on, or preferably tar/bitumen based rolls are the best way to go.
This stuff will stop rattles caused by two object coming in contact with each other. But so will cardboard.

Ok well problem is not the stereo but droning and rattles from my exhaust. Basically I want to sound proof the inside, rather than sound deaden. What is the best for this??? Carpet, foam, tar based roll on deadener. Dont care about outside, don't want to quiet down the exhaust, just want my ears from bleeding when im driving :( .

Any help would be tops.

Cheers
