hey ppl,
im lookin at gettin a car for uni but i want something both fun,wiv sum power and i want efficiency. So how for do they go on one tank of fuel? Also how reliable are these cars. I found one at 153000kms for $4400 but i havent checked it out yet.

What kind of major problems would i face 150000-200000kms.
Also i found one at 215000kms but im guessing i will face a lot of probs. Does anyone know at what kays the cv's and gearboxes will need replacing(assuming lady driver, the owner im buying of is a lady).

Thanks for helpin

Haks

Around about the same economy as the 4cyls from what I can tell, I usually get 450-500km of "standard" driving (combo street and highway) from about 45litres (approaching "E", but apparently a tank actually holds about 65litres), but lately I've been in a lot of peak hour stop-start traffic, and only been getting about 350km for the same fuel. But I may also need to check a few things like spark, air sensor, and I think my injectors need a clean. (Anyone got thoughts on the DIY stuff like Wynns?)

Think the major thing, which is the same with most cars, is replacing timing belt every 100,000km, if that hasn't been done, might want to do something about it. Gearboxes and CVs should be OK(?). But check the CV boots.
Maybe ISC (Idle Speed Controller), apparently they go a fair bit. And the ECU (computer) is apparently getting to an age where often the capacitors on it fail, so might want to get someone to check that out.

See if it has a service history at all. If it was serviced by the book, you'll have some sort of idea which bits have been replaced along the way.

ok thanx mate ,ill make sure the mechanic checks those things out.

Also would anyone know how much power a high flow straight through 2 1/2" muffler would give?

thankx to all that reply!
