something that i randomly posted in another post. just seein if anyone has any problems/questions/ideas

hhhmm thats interesting, you went to a lot of trouble getting your cables through. why did u take off ur air filter etc? I ran all my cables across my wheel arch. I then pulled oput one of the firwalls and punched a hole in it, and ran it through that. i then ran the power cable through the dash and down the drivers side to the boot (where the amp is). And all my speaker cables went down the passenger side (to the boot) (where the amp/crossovers etc are) did anyone else do it this way? it works sweet as. the only problem ive had is, i get some slight interferance in the passenegr side tweeter (a high pitched noise) which only happens when the car and stereo are both on. has anyone have the same kinda setup? and does anyone know wat this noise is? cheers

Trav - next time we cruise i will have a listen - cos mine make a hi pitched sqeal as well - but i cant put it down to interference - so i dunno!!

Just turn up the stereo, aleternator interference gets louder as you rev the car - so maybe tht is one way to check to see if it is or not!!

But i will have a listen next time we cruise - this saturday night if you are keen!!

yer.

the thing is its just one noise, at one volume, it doesnt change at all. the only way to get rid of it is to turn off the car, or drown it out with the music!! the only change of pitch ive heard from it is, every now and then it changes slightly when i put it in reverse. hhhmm. ****in bastard of a thing. (man i hate that gearbox chatter as well!!)

Well if it stays at one note irrepective of volume or revs - then i doubt it is an interference noise caused by power cables, maybe it is another interference of some sort - do you have a hands free phone or something??

That's pretty much all you should need to do. Mine's pretty similar...I ran the power cable through the firewall and up along it behind the dash and along the drivers side all the way to the boot. The RCA's and speaker cables all run under the centre console, then under the passenger seat, and then up along the passenger side all the way to the boot.

Which side are you running the remote turn-on wire? Having your crossovers in the boot may not help, as the speaker wire to the tweeters will be more prone to interference.

I spent all of sunday re-wiring my entire stereo to get rid of this shocking interferance i had. The main problem was due to the RCA's running parralell with thw power cable from the cabin into the boot which was quite a distance. I also moved my cross overs which were in the boot to the front of the car behind the kick panels and now everything is running sweet. No interferance whatsoever and a nice tidey boot that i can actually use now with my subs gone :D

yeh thats true MagnaLE. mynext possibility is the Remote Turn on wire, which is running on one of the spare wires that comes with the rca's. this may have to be changed. also it is interesting you running your cables under your seat. wat was your reason for doing this? Also the crossovers should be finein the boot, if this was the problem both tweeters should be faulty. I'll hafta see.

cheers
