hey in the last month i've

*replaced rear bushes
*replaced cam belt
*replaced cam shaft seals
*replaced thermostat
*replaced waterpump
*replaced front centre engine mount
*replaced right hand front ball joint
*replaced front brake pads & discs machined
*replaced my 2 front tyres (rears are 2 months old)

to try and eliminate shuddering on acceleration. Unfortunately it has failed to eliminate the shuddering in the front end that is starting to worsen. It has only been shuddering since i lowered my KS. My mechanic tells me that my cv's are fine :doubt: and that it would be my transmission that is now causing this, but im not too convinced considering my trans tho it has been slightly rough is fine.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know

with thanx

where do you feel the shuddering?

in the steering wheel? the whole car? is it the engine shuddering?

does it do this when u hit the gas in neutral? or only when ur in motion?

How long have you had the tyres for?

If they are worn incorrectly, you will get vibration through the steering.

Have you had a proper 4 wheel alignment and camber adjustment since the lowering?

My car had small vibrations through the steering when i first got it lowered, a simple alignment fixed most of it. When i replaced all 4 tyres for some higher spec rubber it resolved the problem completely.

And to think, those damn commodores have problems... *wink* just having a dig..

camber adjustment? *blank look* i dont know i gave my old mechanic my car and said i want lows and kyb shocks n he did it

wheel align and balance when i replaced the 2 fronts last week.... rears are still almost brand new. Khumo's

Bain im bad luck when it comes to cars ..... mums commodore isnt any better at the moment tho even with my bad shuddering mines still in better condition.

on acceleration.... like the whole *** car shudders  also can feel it heavilly in the steering wheel get an alignment.. preferrable a 4 wheel digital alignment.. Costs about $75

Find out what sort of alignment they did, whether it was an alignment or balance..

ahh ok, did they mention anything about camber adjustments.. You may find that with the new ride height your dampers might be a tad old and causing your tyres to sit incorrectly until getting up to speed..

A quick way to check is align 1 wheel straight and check the other.. You may have some toe in or something.. (one wheel is facing in towards the car more than the other)

i never said to touch ur trans least you could do is get a free check over it cos wat a waste it would be doing all that other stuff to find out it might have been the trans:roll:

hey there.....let me know a bit more on this shuddering you are experiencing and ill try to help you out. when you say the vehicle has been lowered this could be a big probability of what is causing youre shudder. magnas and veradas in general suffer from this when lowered, mostly the fussier drivers notice it and mostly verada owners as they are so smooth and quiet to begin with. my suggestion would be to knock it back up to satndard even if just for the exercise and try it. (even if you only do the front) as the driveshaft angle is what can cause a vibration under accel.

hope to be of some help...let me know a bit more and we will go further.
cheers mon

NOT you adam... my mechanic reckons it's my trans... i highly doubtful it being trans i'll put bets on it being my driveshafts

mine shudders, it went away after i got my transmission rebulit, now it's back - and i still think it's my trans... mine tends to do it when cruising in overdrive - the motor surges

my carby's rebuilt, my motor is rebuilt... and the trans sometimes does some other small funny things

it's going in for a check on tuesday next week - cos the trans is still under warranty

Although my shudder didn't happen until months after my car was lowered I believe I'm in the same situation. It's funny to me that mine didn't occur until after an alignment...All I've been told since is that an alignment would not cause a vibration like I have. My only occurs in the range of 35-45 mph(56-72 kph) and goes away. I know it's not my trans because it matters not what gear it's in when it goes through the mph range. I may just have to get my car realigned, but there's just something telling me that it won't work.

My steering wheel tends to vibrate up and down and the shudder effects door panels, dash etc.

It can be a number of things, Clutch, Flywheel, Drive Shafts, Engine mounts, if it is when your taking off i dont think it would be anything to do with the wheels or tyres unless they have flat spots or something. Gear box is a possablity but if everyone gets it after you lower the car i am sure it has nothing to do with the gearbox, I get it sometimes in my Manual and sometimes i dont. It realy only happens on cold mornings when i first start the car for the day i just push the clutch back in and take off again no big deal realy, it does how ever piss me off but i have learnt to deal with it. I get a bit of vibration through the steering at about 90-100 but that is my new tyres, And wheels need balancing as the weights fell off

Yeah. front and rear shocks on left both squeek. steering clunks and crunches, fuel guage is inaccurate, reads nothing, then mid, then nothing on the flat, with our moving!!! dte reads all over the place, front left door seal leaks. the list goes on......

PS sorry to hijack ur thread

even tho this thread is old as, and the problem is probably not an issue anymore i thought id add my piece neways. my te shuddered under acceleration at certain revs or when maintaining speed upp hills where there was strain on the motor, and it was sooo horrible. i figured it was the tranny and had it serviced all better now.

anyways thats all :P

you should check out http://www.fastmagna.com/tech/tech4.htm

he belived his flatspots and shuddering came from a distributor problem

it might help :doubt:
