Just had the oil in my manual box replaced today with VMX80, which oil do people prefer for their manual transmissions? Was thinking maybe changing to Redline next time round?
Changing into 2nd in the morning (when cold) has been a biatch in the past but we will see what happens tomorrow morning. *fingers crossed*
/Edit: Day 1 with VMX80 in and she's shifting like a completely new/different box - yay!

Yep identical box i believe, my guess is that the transmission oil just doesn't get up to temperature quickly enough...
perhaps a slightly thinner synthetic might make a difference, but i'm going to give redline oil a shot next time around to see what it's like.

i'm using LWT90 at the moment, just coz it was very cheap and recommended for LSD's. quite difficult to get into 1st when its cold but i think the extra force needed from the short shifter could also add to that.. will be replacing with something thinner when i do the oil change.

no the ralliart 5 speeds have LSD remember? wouldn't they need a different oil for that?

I'd imagine it's still the same gearbox though?
Maybe i'm dumb but i thought the two would be lubricated seperately?

No idea, but I have the same problem with 2nd gear in the morning. Just have to drive it easy for thr first 5 mins for it to warm up i think.
