Hello all,
1) in my ts there seems to be a tiny whine (or wherrrrr) type sound that makes me think of aluminium at low engine speed through each gear. When i rev the engine with no gears engaged it doesnt happen so somewhere along the drivetrain this is happening?? (diff??). Has anyone else had this occurance, and how did the story end??.

2) Also as i wish to attempt to reset my ecu as im having a bit of lagging performance (good idea). Does it basically involve me disconnecting battery, --> reconnect battery, --> let idle for 15minutes, --> drive her like she likes it??

If the noise is from the gearbox bearings then it usually changes tone or volume with different gears and load it will make a slight noise when the clutch is out in neutral, engine running. it can also be quiet in 4th.
If it is a tooth off a gear then it will be noisy in that gear especially.
If it is a diff noise then it only changes tone or volume with road speed and is the same in differnt gears.

the way you describe resetting the ecu is roughly the way i do it and i have no trouble with idle, performance or economy in my magnas
