Hey all...
Got a problem hope someone may be able to give some advice. For the second time in two weeks, I have not been able to start my 94TR. A mechanic friend of mine had a look at it and he said that the needle and seat is stuck open in the carby. Apparently he tried tapping it ( ) but it didn't help. He suggested getting a carby kit for it.
I asked him if he could do it but he said that model is one of the last carby models and it's really complicated with vacuum hoses and stuff.
My question is; has anyone had this problem before (is it common?) and has anyone got any advice on what might need doing?
Cheers,
Rob
It's might be worth getting the carby rebuilt (i got mine rebuilt for about $120 for my TM magna, but the carby + motor in the TR magnas are pretty much the same anyways)
Cos it's rebuilt - the auto choke works, theres no more deadspot, easier to start, secondary's work - the list goes on... best $120 i've spent - even got better fuel econ
Agreed, the vacuum system is complicated, but whoever redoes your carby, should know how to connect the vacuum system properly (you could even ask them to check all the components in the emmision system works)
That's my 2.2 cents inc gst
Cheers,
Bill

 Bill you were lucky to get a rebuild for that little!
im with Bill on this, take it to a shop. the vacuum setup on those carbi's is insane and the documents in any manual i have seen are too poor. the carbi shop has no doubt seen 100 of them in the last year alone so they will definatly be your best bet. budget a little more than 200, bill was lucky i reckon  my carbi cost 300 dollars to rebuild

haha suckers... cost me $55 for a full rebuild for mine. i replaced that same carb u have on ur car with a weber from a 4.1L falcon. $55 for a rebuild kit and did it myself, weber stuff is everywhere and dime a dozen
the magna carbs are very expensive to rebuild. $80 for a rebuild kit and then $40 per float after that... (and there are 4 floats!) so yeah
