Oh dear I don't know how to feel but I got sucked into the atmosphere of buying audio gear. I set out today to pick up a set of 6x9's. Got to jbhifi and managed to bargain them down to a fantastic price which should of been game over. However my eyes wandered across the amps which I told myself I really didn't need. Before I knew it I was asking for prices in a package grrr. Anyway after standing around thinking for like an hour looking quite stupid probably I walked out much poorer but with a new 4x100 amp, 6x9 speakers. cabling set, installation of amp next saturday and a free spindle of cdr's yay picture of the stuff below I'm about to try to install the 6x9's just hope I made the right decision this stuff will accompany my jaycar response 6.5' kevlar splits up the front and my jvc-sx995 mp3 headunit

gday again yeh_yeh

looked at the 7x10's but everyone kept warning me off them there after looking at the car so I stuck to 6x9's to be safe apparently these are pretty high end ones anyway.

ahhh good someone else with the amp, I know this sounds stupid but is it ranked pretty good. I really had done no amp research which I was really regretting while at the store. I knew of the reponse 4x100 and that was about it. I just went out on a limb and hoped this one was decent. One thing that helped was they were running all the speakers on the wall through the coustic :)

yeh its a really good amp, it hasnt cut out once just yet on me,
ya spose to be running 4gaug wires or something like that, it comes with a warning on the terminals, but im running like 8 i think, not sure, but it still goes hard, got it on the splits and the sub and had no problems wat so ever

gives good quality sound aswell. coustic are a good brand, you've picked well

ahh good to hear, I have the 6x9's in and went for a drive. Deffinately sounded better i.e clearer but there wasn't mind blowing bass but I didn't really expect that. This is still without the amp and no back seat in so the ski hole was open and had heaps of road noise.

This bring me to my next question, the amp is going in on saturday is there any specific area I should ask them to install the amp to?

mine is bolted to the back of the passenger seat, on the left of the ski hole. mine just fit.... hope yours isnt too big ;)

also.. make sure they bolt down all four corners of the amp....JB hifi in Melbourne didnt screw in the bottom two.....amp vibrate and shake....amp blow fuse

haha.. i know wot u mean. i went around to a few places just gettin prices on a couple of subsm an amp and some splits, got to complete audio on goodwood road, with no intention of buying anything what so ever. Sure enough, i walked away with a layby for $2200   but what i got is worth just over $3000... so i shouldn't complain :D :D

Only $600 to go... bwa-hahaha!!

Just remember - with new speakers you are not meant to crank them until you wear them in - this is not good - think of it as bedding new brakes!!

Just leave the volume between low and half for the first week or so - then they should be right!!

You don't wanna warp your new speakers!!

Hehehe :)

Reminds me of when I went shopping for mine. Walked in to buy a pair of splits for the front, walked out with the splits, rear 6x9's, 2 12" subs, and 3 amps!

haha good stories glad to see I'm not the only weak one on these forums :)

ahh ok thanks manual unfortunately I've already had them up pretty loud 30ish on my jvc headunit (goes up to 50) hopefully no damage has been done.

I'm starting to think this car audio stuff isn't real good for not only my wallet but my ears. I'm finding my ears are hurting a little after extended listening and by no means am I cranking it up huge ammounts it's just I'm finding unless its on the louder side of soft I can't really hear the increased clarity and bass just worries me a little bit don't want to destroy my ears for the sake of this but now I'm getting the amp in I can only imagine it's going to get louder

samurai as can bee seen here the rrp is $265 http://www.kenwood.com.au/car3.asp?gid=1&cid=45&pid=175

I think they had $230 marked on the tag and I got them to $170 with a fair bit of hassling. Just be careful I went to a couple of other stores and they tried to flog me some lower end kenwood models for the same ammount or even more at some places boasting they have 4 way and 400w even though there rrp was around $65 less! so just make sure you know there range pretty well
