Seeing my cv died AGAIN... is there any place that does a stronger cv for a manga,

if so wats the difference to make them stronger ?

I know this might sound extreme but I hear there are people who cryogenically harden car components but I bet it costs the earth. But hey it might last the distance. Sorry don't know who or where, but I found an example company who do cryogen work... i have just been told that this is a good option.

How are your CVs dying, are they breaking up before the
rubber boot cracks and dumps all its grease??

Hope you aren't buying "reconditioned" CVs from dodgy shops who take any old junker CV
and clean them up with new boots & grease. Never know how far worn those are!!
More often than not if you catch a cracked boot early enough, the ones on your car
will be better condition than the reco ones.

they die from me givin them a hard time,

my car doesnt have an easy life, its been lowered, i give it to it alot of the times and yeh

there wont be much heavier a CV than a fwd 3.5L car. normaly for upgraded cv's they make up new shafts and match the ends with something bigger.

also avoid full lock acceleration and skidding, it puts all the force on 1 or 2 ball bearings in the CV.

what is breaking in your cv's? the shaft spline? the inner joint? the outer ball joint?

CV's are something im affraig were going to have to live with replacing. Life of a CV will depend on the condition of the grease and how hard you push your ride around corners.

Avoid dodgey reconditioned CV's, unless you have a good mechanic you can trust. I always supply my own parts when things like this need to be done as I can make sure everything is ok when they put it in and make sure i know what im getting.

nah i got new ones,
ive also been told its caz my engine mount broke aswell making it a rougher ride on them ??

shouldnt make much difference, when on the throttle your motor tilts forwards, backwards when off throttle, wont really do much to a CV which just transfers torque along the shaft with a joint at either end.

If your car is severely lowered and your CV shafts are sitting less than horizontal
then yeah, they're always working at an angle & your CVs are doomed to early failure.


Have not heard of anyone doing stronger CVs for 3rd gen Magnas, doesn't sound like
there's much market for them yet... the stock ones don't get all that many complaints.

Do any of the turbo people have problems with the cv joints? You would think they would be putting more strain on them than anyone else, Booya, Velocity?

I haven't had the turbos for long enough to say how much faster they will wear.

I think RPW have been through 1 set of CV's in their TT, which seems pretty good considering the 'abuse' it has faced being run regularly down the 1/4.

I reckon turbo or no turbo, the life of the CV's will depend a lot on how you drive - if you wind the car more gently up to peak power or you can hit it hard off the line all the time.

You shouldn't hit full lock...


I can't see why you go thru so many sets of CV's...that's just weird.

My car in it's entire life has been through two sets.

nah i never ever give it any on full lock...

maybe its my car showing me that she dont like me thrashing it, but damm it needs to let out some of the power every now and then

remembering full lock in a magna is severly less turn than any other car. the only reason for this bad turning circle is less angle on the CV's to save them a little more. heavy fwd's will do it, mx6 and tx5 drivers have the same problem. they reduce the tx5 turning circle on the turbo models to save them further. maybe look into a TX5 2.2 turbo CV modified?
