I cant see why it wouldn't be. It's a part of the car....

Everything on a car that is not a wearable item is covered by a new car warranty, wearable items include brake pads/discs, clutches, light globes, batteries (in some cases) etc, i work for a audi dealership and get these questions all the time.

Personally, I would include exhaust components as wearable items, they do deteriorate over time and are not expected to last the life of the car like an engine or gearbox. Having said that, its my opinion only, so if it is covered, then that would be good :P

In that case, engines wear over time, so does everything...

if they can prove the dent/hole was caused by a rock.. ie there is a massive dent around the hole, then it wont be covered by warranty.

yes you could call a whole car a wearable item, but i was talking general consumables for a better word. eg: things that are designed to wear

Lets get a little realistic here...I think you are sensible enough to know what I mean. ***, even rocks wear over time. For the life of a car you can expect to replace a muffler several times becuase of the very nature of its design. Engine and driveline components are a very different matter FFS  :gtfo: :doubt:

If I went into a dealer and asked them to replace my exhaust because it was "worn" out. I would expect a definite "no". Thats the way i see it, no more, no less.

but you woud'dnt say worn out would you, i may not work at an mitsu dealer but you will find most are the same, an exhaust (whole system) Is covered unless damaged, i work at a dealership (audi) and you will find most places are the same, you need to find out what a consumable item actualy is

The hole is at the top of the first loop back from the rear exhaust facing the underbody of the car, so there's no way a rock would've had the force from that angle. And it feels like rust too.

Had an ex-Daewoo Nubira whose exhaust rusted out within warranty & was invited to bring the car in for a replacement when I telephone to asked.

If they're made well they last just as long. It's just that they're prone to being damaged as they're on the underside of the car.

It's got nothing to do with wear.
