I used to have an alloy face plate on my instruments but this summer the thing warped off in the heat so it wasn't all that great.

So I pulled the internal instrument face cover out - painted it in semi-flat silver epoxy paint and then fitted this little number courtesy of Mr Emtech and EBay. Oh well, its different and better than the standard black hole. (!)

its not silicon its like those walnut or carbon fibre centre console kits, only this one is brushed alloy under the clear coat. Attached is the addy of the ebay sale (shows Pix) - it came from Emtech but their hyper new site doesn't have pix only schematics (http://www.emtechautomotive.com.au/)

See attached PIC. The bezel has two upside down screws in the top - unscrew those and pull the top out an inch or so. The bottom of the outer bezel then unclips where the switches are. Unplug the outside switch at the back and swing the bezel over out of the way towards the centre vents.

The 'glass' then comes off with two screws and clips on the top and bottom edges. The inner bezel then comes off with two more screws - use a torch and check out each set of screws - you only need to remove two per piece on this job and with some careful inspection its quite clear which piece is held in by which screws.
